Thats a good question. I'm guessing only with standard features for some car they picked that year.
I compared the different models of Cutlass for '93 with the different engines and it gave me the same weight for each car.
But I really don't know. I just use it for approximate weight.
When I worked at the metal scrapyard we had a scale for weighing the trucks. It went by 10 or 20lbs increments. It was pretty accurate when I stood on it myself. Weighed the van (95 Lumina APV) it was like 3800lbs with me inside and a few tools.

Because the Lumina is a big pile of steel. I no longer wonder why the ass end always sits low. Look on your title for the weight. I looked up an '88 Regal GS in Motor Trend and it weighed 2980!!!Brian
