hes dreaming in there somewhere I know he is, I think he thinks hes gonna get withint 3 points of being a Z34 hehe.

Your not talking about the DOHC are you, the DOHC montes were Z34 just like the early 90s luminas. Monte got the 3400 in 00 and that was the LS.

    • The DOHC Montes were not called Z34s because they had the 3.4L DOHC, they were called Z34 because the original Z34, the Lumina, weighed in at 3400lbs. And they carried the name over.

      Original Z24-2400lbs, but a 2.8L
      Original 1967 Z28-2800lbs
      etc.

That is why, all except the Z71 trucks, they did not weigh in at 7100lbs.

                  • so wait a minute.. what about the Z06? and the ZR1? and the ZL1? and the Z28?

does the Z24 really weigh 2400 lbs? im not buying the Z34 meaning the weight thing.. its just the sport designation of the Lumina and Monte

                    • I think the Z24 used to weigh that much.. maybe.. but 2nd and 3rd gen weigh 2700+lbs.

I think with the Monte/Lumina they named it Z34 cause the 3 is one number up from Z24 which is the smaller car. They really should have an n-body or L-body (Beratta) called the Z34 and the Lumina/Monte called the Z44.. would make more sence to me :P

                      • THE ORIGINAL Z28!!!

The 1967 Camaro, it weighed 2800lbs.

And the 198? Cavilier weighed in at 2400.

And the ZR1, Z06, and ZL1 were different options, and they were solely engine designations basically. The ZR1 got little more than a kickass motor. Same with the Z06 and the ZL1.

                        • Engine designations all start with "L". Z is something else altogether.
