  • Will they ever learn?

You know, you'd think with the hurricane season we've had so far, people would start getting smarter, but alas they don't...

"Hurricane Wilma victims are struggling to find the basics like electricity, food, water and gas, a day after the storm plowed across the Florida peninsula. "We've lived here 37 years and we've never had a hurricane like this," Broward County resident Paul Kramer told The Associated Press. "We didn't expect this. This one got our attention." Wilma, which still is a hurricane, is blitzing up the coast causing problems in New England."

People on the coast cease to amaze me...

    RE: Will they ever learn?

And to think that these people were allowed to vote... Back on topic, yeah, pretty damn ignorant is my opinion. How can you not expect it, especially after this whole year of hurricanes. Im waiting for one to hit indiana. I wont be caught off guard though, im going to canada!

I think if a doctor examined them they would probably be put on life support for being brain dead. I am tired of paying taxes for people that are so stupid they think everyone else should be responsible for them.

being a native floridaian out southern towns (broward, dade, naples) never cease to amaze me with thier stupidity, i grew up in central florida and a couple days ago was on the phone with family trying to help them to decide to evac or not. Both myself and my mother were pouring over GEOS infrared sat images and weather info from 4 different sources. After looking at it and using our own brains we determeind the best central florida might see is 90-100mph sustained winds. And of course being in the center of the state storm surge is not an issue. They decided to stay home for this one and it was pretty much a drinking party. We do the same kind of intensive analysis double checking the metorologists with each storm that may possibly hit. So far in 20 some odd years its yet to steer us wrong.

We did the same with andrew and called some friends down there to warn them that the storm is stronger and is going to hit harder than what the news is saying (andrew was downplayed a bit before it hit). They got out, homestead was flattened.

Just talked to a guy here the other night. Bitching because he had to move back here form Florida. I said, well at least there isn't any Hurricanes. He said yeah but it's fucking cold here in the winter, I'd rather have hurricanes.

            I just rolled my eyes.

They ceased to amaze me long ago too. :P

It's for a different reason, but up in this part of the hills, people from Florida are known as Floridiots.

I mean no offense to floridians though. I know there's some of yins that ain't at all bad.

I just use that term to describe the people that putter along at 20mph on the parkway and ignore the fact that there's no passing zones but plenty of pull-offs.

(edit: I'm turning into a hillbilly!!! Not only am I picking on Floridians, but I used "yins" in a sentence!)

I still shake my head whenever I see news reports from that area where people will time and time again cry and cry about how everything they owned was lost in the hurricane, but then they lead into how they're not leaving and they'll rebuild... Rebuild to have it plowed over again and again???!!!! stupid.

And I thought us Canadians were moronic for living in such a fucking cold area. Winter.... lets see -50C with wind chill, and we bitch that its cold and we had summer weather, In summer when its +35C we stand around bitching about the heat....

I don't doubt we'll be seeing more and more frequent hurricane events in the future as the climate is changing just a tick making them more prone building up.

I live in Inbredness, Fl currently and chose to live here instead of Ohio but the cold up there was literally painfull. Not a day went by that something didnt hurt no matter how hot I kept the house. Down here in Fl. I am far enough north that I only got a day and evening of showers and a few days of strong winds (35-40mph, just enough to make things interesting but safe) from the latest hurricane. A fair trade I say. I dont hurt because of a little wind.
Tuning a car is full of compromises. You must decide if you are willing to give up either reliability, performance, or a whole load of cash. Also remember that repairs will seem to come up much more often as you strive for even more performance
