so im talking with the rx7 expert here in winnipeg and we were thinkin about expanding his buisness to the internet

so, now im going to be getting into php how fun lol
well i got the first step down
running a server, and getting apache, sql going

I won't laugh because it didn't even load for me....

Considering our entire site is run on php, I know some. I mainly know how to edit code that is in front of me, but not how to write from scratch. What exactly is he trying to expand to? A informational site, ecommerce, discussion board... ? I can probably point you in the right direction for some open-source programs you could tinker with. Everything we currently use (Postnuke, pnphpBB2, gallery) is all open-source php. Well, the newest version of gallery that is being used on the new server actually has a bunch of C code in it, but the rest of it is all php-based.

i code in about 7 languages, PHP isint my favorite but you cant beat the amount of good free software there is written in PHP.

Because of this IMHO there should be no reason to make any website from scratch. You can use one of the many open soruce platforms and if you need to access a custom datbase or somthing just write a plugin module.

For your home page I highly reccomend Mambo or Joomla a lot of folks like PHPNuke but I feel the others are written better, for forums PHPBB of course, for galleries Coppermine or 4images.

btw your links seem to be suffering server response timeouts, no data is coming back at all

shaw may have blocked port 80, which means i will have to do a little reconfiguring...

well i was considering mambo, actually found a couple good links

right now, im using UniServer3_2a, and unitray plugin, found that intresting, but i cant seem to get the admin panel and the myphp panels to work..

this is just my computer im testing on, but it hink if i could actually run it off my computer, that would be cool

im running windows xp so i can chmod any directories or files, but then again im not sure which ones should get read,write,bywho and such :P

lol... thank god for brad...and this site actually is my inspiration for getting my rx7 site up n running, i doubt i would have looked into php n stuff if ..i didnt have a 660:P which brought me here to this site, i like this site layout and stuff( php, bb2, ect..) so i figured id try for myself
