  • anyone know how to fix the amp?

You kn ow, the one in the trunk, that when it starts to go, causes the the rear speakers to pop and fizz and make it generally unbearable to listen to anything? I saw some prices for "new" ones at 280, and 200 to send it into a place to get it fixed and sent back. Waay to much.

I was wondering if anyone knew what caused that and how to fix it?

    thanks.

P.S. sorry if this is in the wrong forum..

    could be the head unit

    could be a ground

could be some f-d wires to your speaks, or blown speakers

    could be a bad amp

does it happen to all speakers?
I see that it happens to the rear speakers, maybe those are blown, have you tried left and right?

I think that the amp is ok b/c it powers the front.

does it happen on CD/tape/radio equal?

pull an amp from the junk yard or friend and test it.
or put any known working speaker on the rear cables and see if the problem persists.

Depends on how old or cheaply build so to speak the amp is built..

up to 1998 all most all amps used what was called a DC servo or DC start up relay, most now use a more softer start up design, some digital some analog.

Also older units have issues with ground noise pre-99....

yeah, its a 91 Z34, with the Delco-Bose sound system. Yesterday i hooked up the rear speakers again, and suprise! the popping and crackling was gone... except now the whole system doesnt get loud at all. As in cranked up all the way, it gets difficult to hear on the highway.

Bose is crap. Just junk it and get something different.

how many channels is the amp, do you have no/low sound from a specific channel, or like half the sound when bridging 2 channels
