In Rifle, CO. their cheapest gas was 85 octane!!!!! :wtf1: But it was friggin $2.159!!!! Considering my situation, I HAD to have 87 octane (had NO gas gauge, so only getting $5 wouldnt have cut it, fill up or nothing!). I ended up getting raped for $2.219!! So to all gas station owners in CO. I say

Packers Say Favre's Family Survived Hurricane Hit
Quarterback's Mother, Brothers Unhurt, but Family Home Is Destroyed

GREEN BAY, Wis. (Aug. 30) - Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre spent most of the last two days nervously waiting to hear from family members in his hometown of Kiln, Miss., in the heart of the Gulf Coast area devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

The Packers say Brett Favre's mother spent Monday night in the attic of her flooded home in Kiln, Miss.


The Packers said Favre finally spoke to his mother, Bonita, late Tuesday afternoon when she was able to reach him with the help of a Houston television station in the area covering hurricane damage.

According to the team, Favre said his mother reported spending Monday night in the family attic, along with his grandmother, after the house filled up with water within a matter of 5-10 minutes, much like a tsunami.

On Tuesday, the water receded enough that she was able to leave the family home and go to his brother Jeff's nearby house, which is slightly higher and away from the water.

Bonita Favre told Brett that Hurricane Camille, which the family experienced in 1969, didn't compare to this one and the damage it has caused.

I filled up both cars on Monday night at $2.47, and yesterday prices were sitting at $2.75+. There are a couple places around here out of gas as well. There is an article on CNN.com right now where an oil analyst is projecting $4/gal in the near future.

Another jump in prices here in Arkansas today... On the 20 mile drive home, I saw prices of $2.75, $2.85, $2.97 and $2.99 for 87 octane. So that is at least $0.20 per day for the last 2 days. Hopefully it will slow down some!!

getting back to the point... New Orleans and the whole south east coast is totally destroyed. Something like 85-90% of New Orleans is under at least 6 ft of water b/c two or more key leeves broke along lake ponchetrane(say it how it is spelled here). They are evacuating the ENTIRE city. The city doesnt have any food, crime is rampant, looting is gone crazy, and there are still tens of thousands of people who have no where to go. They are sending the people from the superdome(20,000+) to the Astrodome in Houston. They have something like 500 buses to move just the people in the Astrodome. The death toll just in N.O. is probably going to be in the thousands. That doesnt count Mississsippi and Bama. Guflport/ Biloxi, is officially gone. The entire town is leveled. 8 Key oil refineries are temporairly closed down. The oil reserves aint gonna help us any. Oil is not the problem it is the refining capacity. God help those poor souls.

Agreed Kyle. I work evenings and I didn't get the news till I got home. It was worse than expected. Suddenly, paying for gas isn't such a big deal...

Shocked is right!! My mother nature is pissed. 7 more hurricanes then normal this season. So far!!

Donate all you can at your local Red Cross and any other way possible. America is always helping other countries in times of need. Lets show them how we take care of our own in times of need.

Probably going to get some nasty comments from this, but...

I'm starting to think that we should just leave some of these people to die, or that the police/military needs to start shooting the looters. Here is something I just read about an ambulance service in New Orleans:

"My people are in harm's way," he said. "They are scared. Our command station about an hour ago had the generator stolen off the back of it. We've had an ambulance turned over."

There are people out there trying to help, yet there are others who could care less and are only worried about themselves. The article also went on to say that the rescue missions have had to stop so that the violent looting (imagine that, people stealing guns as well) can try to be controlled.

I saw on cnn last night, 2 of New Orleans' finest, service revolvers at their side, looting a Walmart. The way I understand it, governments have broad power to comandeer(sp?) private resources for the common good during a state of emergency. But these ladies were in the shoe department filling up a shopping cart with quality Walmart footwear. I can understand someone taking food, or diapers, or water, you have to do what you have to if you want to live, but yeah, the a-holes who are walking off with plasma tv's and guns and such, let 'em die. The worst kind of scum is the scum that takes advantage of a disaster like this.

I second that. You wont see "disaster releif" from me. i dont see why i should feel sorry for people who chose to live in such areas in harms way. And also pay for reperations to their homes, so they can do it all again next year. If there was a relocation fund, that would be different, but i'm not paying for your home to be fixed so it can be washed away next year, espescialy if your one of the asses making things worse.
