      RE: Fastest Pushrod N/A W-body?

15.4 is the fastest I am aware of for a pushrod. 3400, high compression, cam regrind, 62mm TB, tuning, no port work at all. 3.73 FDR as well.

W body is the grand prix, regal, cutlass, lumina, new impalas, and a few other cars. Think newer gen G bodies that are FWD.

          Umm, let's think about this...

In your multiple threads around the forum in the last few days, you are looking to bore out a 3400, convert to OBD-1 and turbo the car. So why are you wanting to know the fastest NA time, and then stating you are going to beat it? The 3400 that has the record is pretty decently worked over and tuned (~12:1 CR), has custom headers, etc... So, in order to beat that, you'd have to go above and beyond that, which would then be a waste if you are looking to turbo anytime in the near future because pretty much everything would be incompatible. So what's the deal?

Guess that means your going to start by stripping all that neon and the sound system, right? Can't expect to beat it with all that extra weight, you know.

                RE: Fastest Pushrod N/A W-body?

I'm asking questions to see which route i plan to go. Boost or high compression. So that's the deal. I'm not running around here being stupid. I know what I got to do to beat that. U don't worry about that. You will see it.

I'm going beyond what you just described.

I know I have to go far to beat that time in a w-body. That is why I just shipped my heads to Ben. I know he will do the best job for what I'm doing.

So here is my plan. I just got my 3400 yesterday. Came out of a olds silhouette 02. with 32k on it. I tore the heads off of it same day. The short block is going to the machine shop as soon as Ben finishes the heads and I know what the CCs of the heads are. The machine shop i'm going to are going to rebuild the 3400. Bore it over, Forged pistons, 12:1 compression, knife edge crank, CAM, Balance, arp rod/head bolts.

Heads will have SI valves, ls2 springs, chrysler 318 seals, isky spring seats. crane gold series 1.6 rockers. I have 00+ 3100 P&P intakes. plus TB 62mm. S&S headers. FFP pulley,FFP DB. Catback 2.5. I plan to have a 2.5'' downpipe as well. My own custom intake.

I know i'm missing something...... This does not include my zex wet kit 75shot withthe racers tuning kit.

And as u know i'm going to obd 1.0 to tune this. I just got the parts from gmparts.com. I'm still waiting for the parts from that website where u get those 3 parts for free. I have no clue what they are. :P.

                    What? No Headers?
If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

Actually brad, I ran the 15.4 in lorenzos car:P I think tat has the same time with the 3100 and headers (though I still dont care for that rear header setup).

You have RSM ported intakes. From the pictures, those are far from the best intake porting you can get...just letting you know. You did ship me the lower intake with the heads right?

If i recal i thought the fastest w- 3400 had iron head pistons, isnt that really like 13:1? on top of all the other stuff. I dont think the NA crowd will acknowledge a fastest run with the juice. its in the boost section... The difference is "convincing" the horses to come out and play vs. "forcing" them out.

you could do it NA but your gonna have to make some sacrifices. i don't know what tranny you have but your probly going to want a 5 speed. and if your not willing to drop the cars weight, you might consider donating a lung + kidney+ half your liver + several feet of intestines.... you'd probly benifit from running a vacuum pump for the crankcase, but look it up first. there are a lot of small things that can add up.

I shipped them with the heads yes. They are a nice improvement over stock. I was comparing them to a stock piece. But there is some more room for porting. And they didn't go too deep though. If you think they can still be worked on let me know.

I sure plan and hope to beat a 15.4 too

You didn't look carefully. S&S headers.

Maybe you should use another platform then a W-body if the fastest is 15+ secs...
