The only thing I have found good about 1/3 octave EQs (and I have used them in competition before) is getting a flat frequency response for that portion of the competition. I've actually seen people use 2 EQTs and and EQL together, using the EQL as the main tuning module for SQ, then using the EQTs to flatten the curve. They have the EQTs on ONLY for the freq test, then turn them off for the rest of the competition. But unless you have a meter (yeah, I still have an AudioControl 3050 RTA), trying to tune with 1/3 octave EQs are probably going to end you up with a terrible curve.

Yeah, I am definatiley going to use an RTA to tune it. I don't have one personaly (although it would be nice) but a shop here said they will help me out. I'm definatily going to have to look into it more, I've never entered in a SQ competition before. Lot's of SPL and no IASCA comp's either. But it's seems that I have lot's of help here though.

      Thanks Guys.

Hey, has any body ever used digital EQ's. I got curious and am considering this Audio Control DQXS. It seems reasonably priced and fully featured. The EQ I have isn't used yet so I can probably sell it without any problems.

Alright guys, here is another SQ related question. Tweeter mounting for the front stage. Two options, to the door where the top front edge of the door panel is (covers the side mirror mount). Or, lower just in front of the door handle?

I'd get them closer to your mids, ortherwise the seperation will make your sound stage sound off. And, with them that close to your ears, you'd need to control their volume somehow or they would be way too noticeable and bright. Draw attention right to their placement, which is not wanted in SQ competitions.

So, if I put them lower on the door infront of the door handle that would bring my Tweeters, mids and midbass all within 10" of each other. Would this be ideal? My crossovers have a pot to attinuate the tweeter brightness aswell.

Hey, have you ever heard of anyone using an Eclipse Line Source component set? I've locked down the parts so I will be getting one. Also I am going to dump my original plans of the two channel 1/3rd octave EQ and am going to go with an Audio Control Digital set up. They look pretty sweet, I was thinking about the DQS and the DDC to go with it. What's your opinion? I personaly love the idea of six fully independant channels, adjustable from the listening seat.

              Here are the links.
