It's a 1984 Nissan 720 4x4, with the "Z24" 2.4L SOHC inline four with two spark plugs per cylinder. It has the 5spd manual transmission.

Charging through a mudhole - rear bumper slammed into the ground there.


Being spotted across a creek - I slid off a rock and scraped like hell trying to get out of there.

Future plans include a suspension lift, 30" tires, possibly regearing, and maybe, JUST MAYBE, lockers and/or LSD. That stuff is expensive tho. If the engine or transmission takes a shit on me, I might swap in some GM 60deg V6 goodness paired with a T5.

Right now the Sunbird sits at the house in need of further front end work followed by alignment - I haven't had time to mess with it. So I've been driving this truck daily for about a month or so now, and something breaks on it at least once a week.

i like it. if you put bigger tires on it you will probly have to regear unless you have a steep set to start out with, and you might since its a 4x4 4banger. looks good, i never see any that old and still has paint on it unless its been restored.

That's a nice ride there! I lost the rear wheel off of my old Subaru trying to forge a creek like that once. Well it was more like a 3 foot deep by 2 foot wide ditch, but I made it, sans wheel and all!

It was supposed to originally come with 215/75-15 tires, now has 235/75-15. It should turn a 30-31 inch tire ok, but that's probably as far as ya could go even tho it has 1:4.11 axle gearing. Earlier ones came with 1:4.375, I could use the front diff from one of those, then the rear end from something else (rear end in the older ones is different). That with 30" tires would put the speedometer back within a few percent of correct. (which would put the stock effective gearing back)
