  • Rust is the Devil!

My car is lucky to be very rust free. I dont have holes in my door jambs or sills the way I have seen on other Berettas. I also have a very clean underbody, my car must have been rust proofed.

The body if my car is very nice. I have one ding to take out, but otherwise 2-3 tiny dings and it looks like a car of only a couple years old.

But the original owner in the early 90's scraped the rear 1/4. He either did the repair himself or did it at a shop. Needless to say a few years ago a small rust bubble developed. When I had the car in the body shop I fixed it for about $350-400.

6 months later it came back. Over the past couple of years it has gotten worse. I was now quoted $1000 to do it right. Its not just the money, its the principal and annoyance that has kept me from doing it.

So I decided to be proactive. I am going to work on it myself. I am not going to do a professional repair. But I am willing to bet I can make it look far more presentable. I figure make it last a few months and not let it spread anymore until I have the car in the shop for some other things like painting the GFX.

Here are the before pics, I will take progress pics and after pics later.

I have some spots on the front quarters and down onto the rocker panels where the paint has chipped and some surface rust has developed. I guess I should take care of those before they get too bad and look like those pictures!

Here are the after pics. Now my goal was to slow the rust and to make it more presentable. I used touch up paint lol, it was not ideal. But it looks BETTER and should buy me a couple of months.
