  • Window Motors

Well, this morning on my way home from work (graveyard) I had the windows down since it wasn't hot yet. The windows went down as normal and when I got home and went to roll up the windows BOTH not just one but both windows sounded like stripping gears. I had to give assistance to both windows to get them all the way up.

I have a feeling the motors are about to go and have read in the repair manual that you have to drill out and install rivets to replace these motors.

Long story short, has anyone done this before (I'm sure someone has) and how much of a pain is it or if there is a solution to the rivets.

    Thanks, Mike

When I replace window regulators I use small nuts & bolts to install the new one, A guy i used to work with showed me a nice trick too, once the whole assembly is out you can drill a hole in the arm that lifts the window straight through to the part that holds the spring.then put a nut and bolt through it, it keeps everything in place while you change the motor. If the arm doesn't line up with any part of that metal, plug it in and roll it up or down til it lines up somewhere. I've done it and it makes things way easier. trying to rewind that spring is a bitch. Any how good luck!

Thanks for the tip. I still haven't gotten a chance to take a look but was hoping I could do something like that. Once again, thanks.
