  • question for the canadians

do you guys use the term KPL for kilometers per liter? and do you use statements like "my car gets (insert a reasonable number) gas literage"?

(feel free to laugh at the stupid american)

      RE: question for the canadians

I usually say "my car gets 24 miles per gallon" so I would think a Canadian would say "I get 24 kilometers per liter"

        Stupid Americans. :P

        We use L/100Km
That Litres Per One Hundred Kilometers

Thats the standard but it is sometimes expressed in Km/L when converting MPG

HOWEVER because of American influence (and you guys are too stubborn to switch to the metric system like the rest of the world) we sill talk in MPG and window stickers also have MPG.

thank you that solves my question

and i would love it if we switched to the metric system, i really hate having to deal with all the bass akward conversions ... 12 inches to a foot, 5280 feet in a mile ... how many cups are in a gallon, i dont know.. but i know that there are 1000 milliliters in a liter.. soo much easier

              ROTFLMAO!

I think if we were to use a metric converted statement as what you were refering to initially such as instead of "I get X mileage" it would technically be "I get X amount of Meterage" not Litreage.. :P If that is the comparison you were trying to make..

nevermind. I missed your reply to Chris' smart as remark... oops.

Just makes more sence to use metric....

No we don't use Kilometerage, that's not a word.

It is refered to as L/100km. Liters per 100 kilometers, as betterthanyou has already pointed out already,.

I love the American form of measurement just because we are basicly the only country left in the world that has it. I love it when foreigners come here and get lost all the time and cant figure out how fast they are going. It happens to me all the time when i go to Canada.
