  • Exhaust Header gaskets

    Hello,

I have a 1986 GM vehicle with a 3.8L LG2 stock engine. I keep burning up felpro fiber Exhaust Header gaskets every six months. The engine runs fine. I have OEM Exhaust Headers not manifolds.
I need Metal Exhaust Header gaskets. Soft Copper or aluminum.
    VIN: 1g3cw69b5g4303622

Tried Perceys, Jegs, Summit. Nobody has V6 parts ?

Where can I get these metal Exhaust Header gaskets for this engine ?

I also need intake manigold gaskets.

    RE: Exhaust Header gaskets

Is there a reason you double posted?

Try looking at www.firebirdv6.com for some other help since this site has nothing to do with your engine.

If you are burning up exhaust manifold gaskets, there is something else wrong. Fix the cause of the problem. Putting more expensive/robust gaskets on is just a band-aid.

Check the exhaust manifolds with a straight-edge to make sure they are flat. If they are warped, they won't seal properly, and the gaskets will blow out. This is my guess where your problem is. Also check the head surface for warpage. Although less likely, it could still happen. Are you torquing the manifold bolts down properly?

You also might want to check to make sure you don't have any broken exhaust hangers and that you aren't running too lean.
