just out of curiousity what does titanium weigh in relation to steel and aluminum.

like hypethetically if i had a 4x4 chunk of steel and it weighed 10 pounds and a 4x4 chunk of aluminum would weigh what....4-6 pounds. what would the same chunk of titanium weigh?

I never knew that fact or figure as per the exact lighter percent.. good to know.

Titanium comes in different grades as does aluminum and steel.

The strongest titanium is about 2/3rds lighter than steel, aircraft quality titanium is alittle more lighter and a tad weaker.

The strongest titanium is more brittle than aircraft quality, where it is more malible.

Aircraft aluminum is stronger than extruded, billet, or cast for tensile strength. Where billet has excellent compression strength.

There are alot of alloy combinations of steel and composistions of titanium. All have pluses and negatives.

The strongest titanium is harder than most grades of hardened steel. However it lacks solidarity and it brittle in all forms. Where steel bends titanium will take it but anymore it simply breaks, also titanium lacks tensile strength when compared to high strength hardened steel.

I don't care who wrote what on the internet titanium breaks it rarly bends if it is pure titanium, but it breaks after a point which out performes steel. Even some titan alloys break and don't bend or stretch.
