its intermittent now, sometimes its there, sometimes its not, girl at work has a '01 truck does the same thing, seems like a gm disease. i'm almost leaning to trade in for a used truck, 96-ish, or a 2.8 s-10. but then it is getting warm out and the t-tops are really cool.

ITS NOT A DISEASE. Its normal.

Go look at a piston from today vs a piston from 10 years ago. Compare the length of the piston skirt and the tension of the piston rings. This is done to increase power output reduce friction, heat and internal wear. Once the piston heats up it expands and gets tighter in the bore and the noise is gone.

not rying to shoot my own car down, but...oil chang and still "slappy". and...

my abs inop light is intermittent, has been for some time, i'm just trying to get out of debt, so since the car still stops, i wasnt too worried. i've noticed a pattern, its usually on when its nice out, warm, dry. the kind of day for a nice cruise. but when its gross out, wet, rainy, and the like, i have abs. i'm thinking this another problem stemming from the lack of seals in the so called "weather tight" connectors and sockets. i've already had that problem with the parking lights up front. i couldnt figure out why they wouldnt come on, so i replaced the bulbs, twice, first some i had around, then new ones. and since they still didnt work, i pulled the socket out so i could clean them out, much to my dismay the contact cleaner ran out the back of the socket along the wires. so i bought new sockets, noticing how they looked to be sealed a hell of a lot better, and everything is good there.

what do you think? if i can just replace the connectors on the wheel speed sensors with good ones i think my problem will go away. along with 3-4 failure lights on my dash. that stil leaves the low coolant and tcs light, i think the tcs is a wire got smoked somewhere, totaly my fault. and the coolant sensor failed befor, so i'm going to have it replaced with a flush.

thanks anyways. I know i seemed pretty hardheaded befor, but when it rained a few other things happened. like the lights wouldnt come up, and when they finally did, they wouldnt go down. the cost of diagnosis and repairs for all its ailments would have been around a $2K or more, so i opted for a ford, I'm sorry. for the same coast a repair i got a '99 eddie bauer explorer free of ills. they gave me 7Kfor the trans am despite all its indicator lamps and the 3 foot crack in the window.
