I was on the GMInsideNews site and came across an editorial about the upcoming six speed G6 GTP. Has anyone else seen this thing? 240 Horsepower mated to a six speed manual! This really has me lusting for a G6!

The G6 Coupe is nice, saw it at the Auto Show, It looks a little too much like a solara for my tastes though... One good thing is that the sooner they come out, the sooner we get 3900 parts...

In relation to G6 article and the members of that board .. someone (or a few) mentioned "torque steering" .. Is this true? Could someone maybe exaggerate on what it is and howto control it?
I think its my tires on my 92 Prix wit 3.4L DOHC and 5spd .. but even from a roll off 5-10MPH in first .. I punch it .. and it feels kind of pulling in one direction for a brief moment .. Is that what the concept of "torque steering" is or something

torque steering is the tendancy of a spining axis to remain straight. if you turn your wheels as you go around a turn and mash it on a fwd car the steering wheel will want to return to center, with a lot of power it would be more noticeable, i wonder how turboz24's car demonstrates this. if it pulls other wise its probably tire spin on one side.

"Torque steer can be a problem on high-performance front wheel drive cars. This is the name given to the tendency for some front wheel drive cars to pull to the left or right under hard acceleration. It is a result of the offset between the point about which the wheel steers (which falls at a point which is aligned with the points at which the wheel is connected to the steering mechanisms) and the centroid of its contact patch. The tractive force acts through the centroid of the contact patch, and the offset of the steering point means that a turning moment about the axis of steering is generated. In an ideal situation, the left and right wheels would generate equal and opposite moments, cancelling each other out, however in reality this is less likely to happen. Torque Steer is often incorrectly attributed to differing rates of twist along the lengths of unequal front drive shafts." In other words, it's what happens when you mash on the gas and your car rips to the right. So yes, pepsi-coke, that is what is happening to you. It happens if your going in a straight line or around a curve, but usually only at low speeds.

weird i thought it was something else, my sisters crappy renualt had tht problem big time, from a 1.7 waste of metal. not even high tech enough to have a flow through head. oh well, i'd drive anything put before me, as long as its safe, not rotten end to end.If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

If I remember correctly I think the G6 has equal length drive shafts that are supposed to remedy torque steer, but I might be thinking of something else. Besides, look at the big picture. This G6 is going to mean good things for pontiac and hopefully the entire GM lineup. It seems reasonable to expect to see this transmission in many upocming and existing GM vehicles such as the Monte Carlo SS, Impala SS, Gran Prix GXP, Cobalt SS, and the Ion Redline.

We havnt seen any of the 3900 v6/6spd combo's yet at the dealer. when does the 2 door coupe come out?Colin
