  • TIG Welder Anyone?

cncguy told me about this, so, you know me,...I had to check it out. VERY INTERESTING! Being a TIG welder myself, I have always wanted one, but could not afford it. Granted, it is not a Synchrowave 350, but for some basic light fabrication, it should work very well. I would incorporate a foot pedal, instead of the dimmer switch though. http://classicbroncos.com/homemade-welder.shtml Yes, I know it's a Ford site. Forgive me....

Fuckola its time to look at a junkyard deal like this. Yeah the foot peddle deal is a must just bcause I would be lost without it but hell, this can work!

Similar setups are used in factories in poor countries...

That is one heck of a creative Idea. Props to whoever figured that out, and did the writeup. Very good find. Thanks

Finally got a chance to look at this. Ill have to see what jeff thinks since its his air compressor, but its definetly a cool setup. That example weld looks awesome for the tools used!

From the looks of it, this setup will only do DC TIG (so no aluminum welding). If you have access to the compressor motor, alternator, and other bits, this looks like a cool project. If you want an off-the-shelf DC TIG setup for roughly the same price, there is one available from Harbor Freight for ~$200 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=91811

haha, well that looks a little easier to setup too:P I need aluminum welding as well but for that price I can at least start with the steel tubing.
