Yea the pre date our engines by quite a few years. Hardly the same engine family. But cool none the less.

So do you believe they should never be a part of this board? The banner above says "...for all your GM 60* V6 needs," Not "...for all your 60* needs as long as it's directly based off the 2.8L." Its could also be argued that the new VVT Pushrod motors and the VVT DOHC aren't a direct part of this family.

Uh yes the DOHC motors are part of the family. Same cylinder bore centerline and same tranny bolt pattern. Also same cylinder bank configuration and same firing order

On the truck engine number one cylinder is on the drivers or front side of the engine. On ours it is the passenger or rear cylinder bank. The truck uses a firing order like a 4.3L 165432 ours is 123456.

So no nothing is the same except the cylinder bank angle.

There are other 60* V6 engine that this site does not include that are found overseas. The are identical in makeup to the 3100 but have a smaller displacement. However we dont include them because no one who uses this site has them. I already argued before that we add them but it was a no go.

I have mentioned that site a time or two. I used to own a 1963 GMC pickup w/ a 305ci V6 in it. Pretty torquey engine, but nothing to brag about in that heavy truck. I'll post some pictures up later when I find them.
