98 Blazer, they are not that bad, the easiest way to do them is unbolt half the dash, take a rope and rope the dash to the outter roof rack (so it holds it away from the firewall) and crawl in and change the heater core.
haha, I said something like the heater core being a bitch in the monte carlo a couple of years ago(come on it WAS 102 degrees outside then) and got some horror stories about other cars in response. i know for a fact that those Blazers are right up there on the bitch factor! BUUUUTTTT along comes a farter smeller than I am and hey, that might just work! BTW How did it go back together? Everything line up? My buddy is wondering right now.

prety much ANYTHING on the s10/blazer platform is a bitch to do. like spark plugs on a 4.3, the first 4 are easy, the 5th is a pain. the 6th you gotta drop the steering shaft and steering box

Hmm... maybe I should have had the plugs changed while it was there.... Oh well.

Ended up running $944, $78 of which was taxes. Sucks to have to pay that much, but it needed to be done and I didn't have the time or resources at the time. So its all good. I've saved enough in the past... 7+ years by doing work myself that 1 mechanic bill isn't going to kill me.

I will reiterate! GM Engineer = I think they owe you at least 500 bux, and an appology for being so stupid in the 1st place. Cover in ice, don't hurt so much.

to change the spark plugs on a 98 blazer you do not have to drop the steering shaft... there is a tool that you buy and it goes around the shaft... i had to buy that tool when i did my moms blazer. too bad it was after i grinded down a socket to try and get it to fit.

We were going to do one on a 98 Blazer this past winter for Stephanie's dad. The heater core was $80 with discount at GM, I believe Autozone sells it for over $170!!

The job time was looked up too, it was 8 or 10 hours...i forget.
