I've posted many things about this case on v6z24.com, we have a 8+ page thread on that site about Terri Shiavo, I'll copy/paste some points I made over there.
I hope you mean little time that the 'rents have left, since they could keep Terri alive for decades, probably even centuries, the way she is, hell even with cellular break down, I'm sure there is an injection that could be used to regenerate new cells or fix the ones that are dying.
I think this goes beyond what the husband wants, it has to do with mercy, and letting go of those that need to be.
There is also another side of this that we are not taking into account here, since beliefs are so different, that would be what happens with the 'soul' or 'spirit'? I have a belief that we are here on earth to learn what we can and help those around us, being rewarded for our hard work and good deeds in the afterlife. Being hooked up to machines the soul or spirt is trapped in that body in a stagnant state, and can not prgress any farther until the body actually dies, until it ceases to be a temple for the spirit. but I guess that would be an entirely different post.
Have you thought that he (the husband) might actually be doing this for her (Terri)?
Meaning that just because her 'rents could support her life by feeding her, by spoon or otherwise, does that make it right? No, not at all (I'm also not saying that the other is right either). I think if I was in his situation I would be doing the same, not because I'd want to bury my wife, but to be able to set her spirit free. Her 'rents are not thinking rationally, or what will be best for Terri. All prognosis says that there is NO way that her condition will improve, and I think the fact that she has been laying in this hospital bed for 15 fucking years, should prove that.
You know what, I think Michael might have done what he did for Terri's 'rents.....
I'll explain, but first I have to ask you a question:
Have you ever watched someone die? I mean actually seen someone's last moment, last breath?
It's not pleasant.
Michael may have denied them access, because it was best for THEM, best not to see thier daughter die, watching someone die, is never pleasant, no matter what the circumstances are. It changes you forever.
Most people would be best to just see the person living and then at visitation, not to see the last moment.
I also have to say that, her 'rents have to have some serious issues to want to keep thier daughter suffereing like she has for the last 15 years, I know for a fact, that if my daughter was brain dead, and needed machines to support her, I would set her free and let her spirit live, long before the 15 year mark, THAT my friend IS inhumane.
For the full thread, which has some very good arguments in it, here is the link:

15 years and no improvement in condition? Pull the damn plug, it's an act of mercy at this point.

I wonder if we should get ino the whole "sentiant being debate" and how it relates to this case, because people, at this point she is no longer a "her" but essentially a lump of flesh, more like a science experiment gone on for way too long.
Last I heard she had no higher brain functions, meaning that she no longer 'thinks' for herself, or would probably even be able to again, if she were to regain conciousness.
Clownzz and I were talking about this earlier tonight, and he brought up a very valid point.
Lets say she were to wake up, regain conciousness, and be able to comprehend what is going on around her. Now what reaction would she have when she does wake up? It's been 15 years since she has conciously seen the world around her, 15 years since she was able to react with the world. A lot has happened in those 15 years.......
-CD players are now mainstream where as 15 years ago, cassettes were still quite popular.
-Microwaves are in almost every household, some have more than 1
-The US alone has seen 3 or 4 presidents (Sorry I don't follow politics that closely)
-We've gone thorugh the Desert Sheild and Desert Storm "scuffles"
-Gay mariage is now way more open and accepted than it was 15 years ago
-Cars are way more advanced and safer than 15 years ago some of the user interface technology was not even thought of back then.
-Computers, well 15 years ago, maybe 20% of households had 1, now as many as 70% have at least 1, a lot of them have gone through 2 or more in the last 15 years.
-The WTC was destroyed by terrorism, and the resulting "War On Terrorism"
-There was a guy Named the Unibomber
-Several (hundred) actors have risen, several (hundred) have perished
-She has missed the complete series of Friends, South Park, Simpsons, Law and Order, ER and many, many other shows.
-All three Matrix Movies, and thousands of others....
-Along with the more personal changes in her imediate area, like the roads, she probably would not be able tonavigate around her home town anymore due to change, the age of her immediate family, to her everyone is 15 years younger than they are....
My point about listing all these things that have happened?
SENSORY OVERLOAD, Shock. Just dealing with the idea that she has been unconcious for 15 years, would be a great shock to her psychy, and would be very difficult at best to deal with, let alone the fact that she is 15 years older.
There have been several movies made about "what if?" situations similar to this.
Think about that for a while, think about all that you might have missed in the last 15 years, if you were not able to experiance it.

ok... yeah, its been 15 years.... but the man is with another woman, has kids.... has MOVED ON. why not just give her parents the satisfaction of taking care of her? i wouldnt want to see my wife live that way either... but if her parents were willing to do that, i'd let them.

now.... you tell me.... you're in michael's place... terri's parents call you at 930 or so this morning. they are there, she is within her final hours and they'd like to stay by her side so she is with someone other that michael's lawyer when she passes.... what would you do? can you guess what he did?
HE REFUSED. he demanded they left, and she died a half hour or so later.
the man is a prick, and i seriously hope someone gets him in the end.
this, by far, is the one thing that has disturbed me the most in this whole case. forget the god damned money, forget who will care for her, who will get the insurance policy pay out..... the woman was cleary dying, and he REFUSED TO LET HER FAMILY STAY BY HER SIDE UNTIL SHE PASSED. not because he was there and they dont get along, because HE WASNT THERE. simply because, once again, AS HER HUSBAND, he had the power to do so.
im thinking about it now, and i would put $1,000,000.00 on this being the Roe Vs. Wade of euthenasia..... "To prevent any further cases of such happening, after such amount of time, it will be the doctor's call to pull the plug, regardless of what is said in living wills or what the next of kin wants to do."
damnit, its a crying shame that this is what its coming to.
