I think they should have made the GTO look more like an older GTO, maybe a JUDGE, like Ford did with the Mustang. Pontiac is getting better as far as the way their cars look, all that damn plastic body cladding is gone for the most part. I've been seeing alot of G6's around here, not too many GTO's. I think the $32,000 starting price is a little prohibative. I can't think of one new Buick I would want to own. As far as the GTO womping the f-bodies, that argument doesn't hold water. Why didn't the more powerful f-bodies outsell the Mustangs?

Hey, , most older pontiac's (like your TA there and my GA look good) but I don't like GM's new cars. I personally wish they'd work on making them more reliable, instead of just wierd looking.

        yeah, weird looking, like aztek.

gm never did seem reliable to me, i thought ford had that market cornered. we just get the HP.

i think the reason f-bodies may have been out sold by the stang is the pricing. $30-35k for v-8 f-bodies new....not me! for that $30k+ you could get a loaded classic muscle car. i think the 98-02 birds, especially the ram air TA's looked more aggressive than the camaro, than most U.S cars. the only new pontiac that isn't a GP clone is the sunfire, which looks like a saturn :P

2002 Z-28 had 50 more horses, got better fuel economy, and cost under $23,000, $1500 less then a Mustang GT. Agreed on the GP look for Pontiac.

Well, what they need with the pontiacs and all the other GMs is brand identity, that's why they all look alike. Just look at the hondas/acuras and toyotas/lexii, they all basically look the same. How about Volvo, Mercedes, etc, etc... Once they get their designs straight and unitized with the necessary similarities (like buick has and oldsmobile had), then they can differentiate the models with subtle differences.

I personally like the new GTO - It is a modern evolution of the original. (probably only one of the few who has an orignal and likes the new one)

I also probably would've bought a G6 GTP Coupe had I not gotten such a good deal on the Alero (not to mention finding one with the strange combo of options it has)

I think they should axe Buick. Honestly, why do they need two luxury lines? Cadillac is doing a great job of grabbing younger and older buyers alike. I think GM has too many lines, personally, and it's trying to throw a limited amount of resources at all of them. Here's what they should do:

Cheap convertibles (i.e. Sunbird, Cobalt, hell why not throw in the Ion).

Kill Buick, or up the ante greatly by offering more comfort, not necessarily speed, handling, etc... for less than Caddy. Kia style luxury if you will.

Follow the trend: Go RWD with the W-Bodies (yes that will mean the end of the W-bodies). Give them V8's and big shiney wheels.

                  ...

Also, did anyone read the C&D review of the G6? Did you see how they blasted the Grand Am in that review? They have never even tested a 99+ Grand Am. I think they mentioned the last GA they tested was a 97. They should do a comparo, the 05 GAGT vs. the 05 G6GT. I know who would win on styling (GA) and I don't think the G6 is much quicker than the GA "Ram Air." I know the first car I will ever have "car payments" on will be a 99+ Grand Am.

GM needs to start realizing the trends and follow them. Chevy need a new Impala (I mean the real ones, the 90's Impalas) to compete the the Crown Vic (though none of us here would even look at a Crown Vic as competition for an 05 Impala SS, despite the SC 3800).

They need me on their peanut gallery.

I think dumping Buick would be a mistake. They should make an effort to compete with the likes of BMW, Lexus, and Infiniti. Give them better quality interiors, more of an international "feel", and something other than a floaty-boaty ride. Let Pontiac be the basic sporty brand, and Chebbie be the Tshirt and bluejeans brand.

Or have Chevy drop all their cars, and just produce the Corvette! Only Chevy worth mentioning, besides the trucks.

Yeah! a new GN would be cool, if your not a die hard for the old GN, they wouldnt like it, at least i dont think they would. might hurt the value of their car. this time with a rwd 3900vvt twin turbo... 6 speed...but it would hurt the vettes sales and thats thier #1 no-no.

why dont they axe oldsmobile (or did that happen already? am i not paying attention...) that line is just an afterthought in my head , sorry olds guys.

Bye buick, leave and take the elderly with you!

with gas going up no one will want to feed a buick, the 3100 is there smallest offering. chevy has the aveo, and pontiac has the vibe, and then you have the barely bigger j-body's.

why do they have GMC? i think we shuld dump that first, just relabled trucks with a few fancier options. if i was truck shopping i wouldnt even consider a GMC since a Chevy is probably $1K cheaper. i never understood that, is it a status thing?

GMC trucks have better materials inside for one thing. They make it more geared for Luxury whereas the Chevys are more price-oriented. I'd say get rid of the Chevy truck lineup and leave it all to GMC (GMC can have an "econo-line" but that would defeat the purpose of getting rid of another brand). Trucks are selling better than anything else now anyway. I'm sure if you checked the #'s GMC is probably more profitable than Buick. Probably the arrowhead too.

Ok. GM needs say 3 divisions. Caddy/Buick- young Geezors, Pontiac- wanna be fast folks, Chevy/truck- make this the experimental section. I think this is why ford was able to pull through their last ordeal(12.00 stock) They could focus there stuff into certain prooved name brands. GM can drop the saturn and GMC names (tax write off) and improve current marketing on current brands. Maybe pull something from the Olds/Buick quality book on over to the other three.
