Well the car search is nearly over. I came home from work today to find my dad standing at the foot of the stairs gleamin. He decided to buy a new Z71 with leather and the works, black on black... what a bastard... But in his hand is a little note dealy that says that the dealership brought in a 2002 2dr Grand am GT for me. Black with cloth interior, and something on it is dark pewter?, (it comes in on thursday but they want a deposit since several others have been asking about it -- or so they say) "polished" chrometech rims, monsoon stereo, sunroof etc. for 14,700 canadian. Which is slightly higher than i wanted to pay. But i think im buying it anyways. I can put 4 down now, but i think i will put 3 down so i have some spending money.

Problems being that im poor and intend on attending university in the fall. What do you guys think? my money supply will only get greater as i intend on picking up a second job. At the current job i'll be making about 5400 this year, and next year 18000 divided by 2 for taxes (tripling my hours). Anyways i worked it out, and if i leave myself enough money for gas and a little bit of spending money working what i currently work now making 5400, it'll be paid off in 5 years. Oh and interest does not factor in as im taking a loan from a family member and not an evil bank.

Anyways let me know, ill post pictures of the bastards truck when it arrives in the driveway, as well as the car if it arrives in the driveway.

Oh, and do grand am GT's REALLY weigh 4048lbs
PS: the insurance adjuster raised the value of the z34 to 1900 yipee... ... but she was rude, so i filed a claim stating she touched me. Seriously though she WAS rude and I DID report her and she is under "review".

Well, sounds pretty cool. The price is a little high, but if it is in good shape it's not that bad. You should be fine, unless you drop a tranny or spin a bearing or something. Theire really isn't anything maintenace wise that could fail and cost you a liver to replace. Alternators and intake gaskets are the only thing I can think of. Both of those combined is only $200.00 CDN.

Maybe the older ones are that light, but a 2002 has a Curb weight of 3168lbs.
