Someone told me that they saw one on cardomain that already had the swap done. I've been meaning to look on there, but without having the year to go by(or whether it's a 'Maro or 'Bird), it would probably take a while to find that particular car.

Hey Wolf, what tranny and clutch assembly do you plan on using for this?

I just bought a WC T5 with the FWD bellhousing starter position for my lil project...

the t-5 that come behind the l32,gonna use the mini starter and grind clearance into the bellhouse
clutch, probably a cf dual friction

got the upper intake, alt, ac,ps pump, motor mounts and exhaust manilods off
motor turns over easly( found that out taking off the flexplate) and the timing belt isn't broken
poor thing was running on stock plug wires(on exhaust port shows that cylender had been running dead fo awhile) the upper intake gasket had 2 cracks in it,and I'm willing to bet the alt. on it was toast

one obsticle i've run into it the lower intake wont flip around, the belt carier interfears with the thermostat housing exstension,I may beable grind enugh clearance, gonna get a spare lim to play with

one good thing is,that except for one boss, the rwd 3.4 and the dohc 3.4 have the same motor mount bosses

This may need to be moved to the swap section, and The info I can provide is in rgards to a 3rd gen camaro with a 96/97 3.4 DOHC, so not all of it maybe of use as I don't know all the differences between a 3rd an 4th gen but here goes, and also using a 91-95 3.4 DOHC, I used to have pictures of all of this but those were lost in an HDD crash, and I dunno if I still have the video

On one side of the block only 2 of the 3 motor mount holes can be used as 1 side is off set from the other side/RWD motor mount configuration

a notch needed to be cut in the motor mounts to allow clearance for the Knock sensors, I know 4th gen motors mounts are different from 3rd gen and I'm unaware if the 91-95 block uses 2 Knock sensors

A 96 UIM/LIM would probably be the best to use/modify as it puts the thermostat housing on top instead of straight out the back as the 91-95 LIM does, this is an issue as there is verry little clearance between the motor and the firewall

the rear dogbone mount on the engine needs to be removed due the formentioned clearance, and in the case of the 3rd gen the windshield motor needs to be change to a horizontal conguration rather then a vertical, I didn't look into this much because it was mute point at the point where my project went onto hiatus

the firewall in the 3rd gen need to be dented inward slightly to make room for the LIM to be mounted in it's normal configuration and a new thermostat housing needs to be obtained as the one on the 96/97 LIM is desined to go around the head and in this case would require further modification to the firewall, it maybe possible to use a swivel neck with a 45 degree angle it there is one to bolt upto the LIM

A/C isn't happening, a dummy plate is needed or an electric water pump, there wasn't enough clearance from the mount to the crossmember, also the blower box dopesn't clear either

a remote oil cooler maybe needed because on 3rd gen the oil filter is on an adapter to clear the motor mount that positions the oil filter parrallel to the block in turn this may cause a clearence issue with hthe starter

if you use a 3rd gen bellhouse with the dual starter pockets, use the newer 96/97 or newer mini starter, it fits fine, mine was from a 2000 GTP and it fit and from what I could find is the same part used in the 96/97

The following are things I never resolved but lemme know if you do as my project is still in the not running phase, and I've haven't really taken the time to resolve them

              1. a thermostat housing for use on the 96/97 LIM, in using a replacement thermostat housing it maybe necessary to raise the fuel rail to clear it, lemme know what you find out if you do use a 96/97 LIM
              2. electric water pump or belt pully to resolve the missing AC compressor issue
              3. Fuel line hookups, I dunno if it's different for the 4th gen but the 3rd gen fuel lines will not fit the Fuels rail, they are too small, I was just gonna bend the originals and adapt them to the camaros original hard line, but lemme know if you find a better way

I may think of more later but thats what I have right now, HTH

wow, i think i hate 3.4 tdc motors guys. no offence, but it seems to swap it to anything is like putting a quarter into a dime slot. that sounds like a lot of crap to mess with. i'm going to plan on avoiding those super cool motors and stick with the "crappy" ohv. lol

I agree on that one.. I mean they can have some serious power and all, but GM just took too many short-cuts on the design. It's still much higher on my list than those *other* engines though.

GM did make the right move at least with the new 2.8 and 3.6

I can't use a third gen bellhouse, because my t-5 has the ford mounting pattern, but I shouldn't have to much trouble making it work with the mini starter
as for the ac & waterpump, i'm gonna put my ps pump where the ac used to be, and i'll have to trim the plastic cover for my belt routing
and I'm gonna flip the intake around, even if I have to chop off the the stock thermo housing and make my own,as that would make the swap alot easyer

sence the oil pump is dying on the pushrod 3.4,now it the time to start the swap, but I need to fix or get rid of my z24 first(its blocking the garage)
