  • Anything wrong with modding a FWD V6 4 door?

My friends think I'm nuts for wanting a mid to high 14 second car (if it's doable, even with a turbo) out of the Corsica. Yeah sure I'm in the mid 12's with the 'stang and there is lots of room for improvement on that (got a 5.8L V8 block waiting in the garage). But cops look at me funny when I'm in the 'stang and I can't use it for work, I don't use it when it rains, I'm too scared to leave it in a parking lot so I don't use it very often. I store it 1/2 the year for winter...

But something about a fast Corsica that seems attractive. I really like the sleeper idea and would still like to have something fast while getting groceries or whatever. It isn't a GrandPrix or anything fancy or sporty and I guess that's what would make it fun. But I wouldn't want to dump more than 3k into this "sleeper" idea though. Engine needs a valve/cam/lifter job so I was thinking as a first mod a new aftermarket cam, maybe 3400 heads as a 3.1L/3400 hybrid engine a lot of you guys are doing.

But still I get laughed at for thinking about modding such a plain and "worthless" car. But I say it can't be any worse than dumping a lot of cash into a Neon or Civic DX???

There are actually several people who mod Corsy's... Ben and I used to make fun of one of them just because we knew him and it was fun. Of course, the 4" cowl hood didn't really help him to not get ridiculed. I say go for it. There are plenty of 4-dr W-bodies on here right now, and we already banned the 4-door hater...

RE: Anything wrong with modding a FWD V6 4 door?

My 4 door is modded and I don't see anything wrong with it. I think its cool because its a sleeper and nobody has a clue until I'm already passed them. My dad has a 4 door GTP that runs 12.0's in the 1/4. My moms SSEi runs high 13's, and my STE actually pulls on the SSEi a little. I just think its cool because nobody expects it, and personally I like 4 door cars better because I don't like having to get out to let somebody in back, and its easier to get out of the car when your parked in tight spaces because your door is shorter so it can open further. I agree they don't look as cool, but IMO they are more practical.

I'm addicted to modding FWD 4 door V6's.

Ain't a thing wrong with a 4 door. It's just easier to load your friends up in it.

Oh well my friends think I'm crazy... I guess I am but it isn't as crazy as paying monthly payments on a new Kia* or any other cheap car. Just one year of payments plus insurance on a new car would pay for a turbo kit (or most of it) on the Corsica... So what if it's a 14 year old car, the body is still good. Besides I don't think I EVER want to own another 4 cylinder unless it's a Subaru, SRT4, Turbo 2.3L Mustang, EVO, etc...

See attached is a visual of what I'd like my Corsica to look like. Lowered suspension, new wheels (although most likely going to be 16" GTZ wheels), tinted windows, removed badging and new "V6" badge on the doors. Just a clean looking car.

*(not that I have anything against that but just really isn't my thing).

you dont wanna know what i did to my 4 door lumina, but it involved a 5 speed, a 3400, z34 ground effects, leather seats, battery relocation, 4 sets of rims, all to lose interest and put it back to stock.

Maybe I shouldn't say "4 door" more like "2+ door equipé" No but I mean I wouldn't think twice about WRX STi which is a 4 door... I guess it's because my Corsica isn't worth much money... I can polish it up and it will always be... shiny... no wait that isn't the saying? well you know what I mean...

But I guess we don't spend thousands of dollars modding vehicles for the investment lol

Tazz sold that car years ago and bought a mint Iroc. That Corsy was slow but had Steve Hamm headers and sounds mean.

The good news is the Corsicas are light, just as light as Berettas even though they have two more doors. I highly recommend doing a 5spd swap, take it from someone who has gone through it.

Now a 5spd Corrsy with say a 3.1/3400 top end, or 3400 and a turbo will net you 13's, and there is nothing wrong with that. My car is verging on a sleeper, but with a Corsy you really will come from no where. I say go for it.

                          Nope

4 doors are always hip with the ladies, and they tend to have a stretched appearance.

I'm going to be doing the 3400 intake swap on my FWD V6 Grand Prix. And loving it.
