  • Engine Dynamics

Well I hope this is the right forum, anyways.

I am looking for books/info on engine dynamics. I need references to some good books out there that discuss the following issues:

Camshafts, engine breathing, Intake and exhaust manifold design and theories. I want to get pretty deep into this stuff if possible. Mainly I want to know how to build an intake manifold and tune it to a certain RPM via wave functions created in the intake and what size so they add up and help more air enter.. ect ect ect

I have plans to build a turbocharged 3X00 engine (3.1/3400) for my pontiac sunbird and want to make sure I size the turbo for the RPM where I want the power to ly and design my own headers and calculate the required length, diameter and what not. I want to have total control of how this car behaves and will be goin Stand Alone. So in the end I will be able to modify each and every aspect of this thing.

And because of the aftermarket computer, Is there any good books I should read on engine management?

Anything thing will help, dont be afraid to post it. Please and thankyou!

If you goto the Pushrod Performance section, D.I. has a post discussing individual runners. In it, I linked to a thread I have (had?) going about my own venture into plenum/manifold design. Not sure if I linked to all the sites that I have been to in my travels, but there are some good discussions in it. Its about 5 pages long, so get ready for some reading. I'll also post some links I have about the plenum design when I get home.

As far as some of the other topics, I'll see if I can dig anything up from old Hot Rod magazines. The theory is all the same... Oh, and there is currently several copies of an EFI book on eBay which would cover your standalone question. Do a search for Haltech and it'll come up.

And here is another good site for theory info: http://www.theoldone.com then goto either the Archives or Articles section.

Yes this is what I wanted, mind you I have read a lot of that camaro page, but the rest is awsome. Thank you so much. Looks like I'll be stuck infront of a computer for the next couple days.

Still if anyone has an idea on any actual books to read, that would be cool too.
