  • SUV's should be taken off the roads

Thats right, rearended today. GODAMNED. Since my rearend is probably 4 inches off the ground, the SUV's bumper lined up nicely with the license plate and tailights. I was stopped (at a red light) he was doing about 60, he slammed on his brakes (on ice) resulting in him hitting me at likely 55km/h. So my tailights are destroyed, lower bumper is ripped out (again, second time being rearended in just over a year) and my fresh paint job is trash, the license plate area is pushed in and down about 6 inches and insulation from the trunk is sticking out.

Yay my car is likely written off (Tl'd, totalled etc.). I didn't even get my chip from Ben yet . I dont even know what my next car will be if it is written off, i probably wont get what i should for this one, so i guess i'll be buying a 1980's truck and ill install some push bars (preferabbly with spikes) along with a roll cage and flamethrower exhaust and i can be the asshole going around hitting other cars.

    RE: SUV

from someone who owns an SUV... they should be taken out of the hands of yuppie trash that use them for kid haulers when a minivan would be perfect. i use mine for work and towing, what it was intended for.

That sucks. If you need, I'll make you some spikes on the lathe at school. anyway... you should find an injury and get a NEW car.

whiplash takes a little while to be noticable, or at least thats how it worked out for me. My neck is still fucked up though, which sucks.

suv's are a little out of hand. unless you really really need 5000+lbs of equipment and be able to prove that you can if fact handle it responsibly and safely (for like not hualing kids anddefinitly not a grocery getter), then you shouldnt have one of those steroid pumped station wagons. maybe they should instate an utility vehicle liscence. i mean you need to prove you can handle a motorcycle to get liscensed for one here in ohio, you should you be tested for a plus size vehicle?

I dont actually think SUVs should be taken off the road, i just figured it'd be a more interesting title then "Got rearended" :P. My parents each have an SUV. my dad actually needs his (expedition), whereas my mom just got my dad's old truck(explorer) which didn't have the power he needed.

But ya, on second look, the damage is as bad as originally stated, the trunk won't open which is a bad sign (i assumed i would have exagerated, i posted about an hour after getting hit). It doesn't look that bad from just looking at it, but once you get close you notice theres alot of damage under the surface. If it is Tl'd, i'll be seriously looking in the direction of a fast car, leather, t-tops, plentiful aftermarket, V6 or V8 (preferably v8, at least 280hp not many v6's fit that description), so that leaves me with a mustang or a camaro/trans am basically, and i think we all know which one i would be picking. (trans am:P) unless you can think of any other cars that would meet that description. I also need enough money for my future crotch rocket tho.

Actually fullsize SUV's should be required to have commercial plates. No more parkway driving, HOV lanes, and hell, make the biggest ones require a CDL (nah) But I'm a firm advocate for making them commercial vehicles.

Yeah, that's how pretty much every legitamate whiplash claim happens. If you ever happen to slide into somebody on ice doing an excessively low rate of speed. Then the guy gets out of his car holdong his neck saying he has whiplash. The best thing you could do is pretend to slip on some ice and punch him in the face. While you do this give hime the old "Cough-Liar-Cough" trick and put him in his place. Why? Because, he is definatily lieing and you are getting screwed one way or another, so you might as well feel good about it. Plus, this way you will still be covered by you insurance.

Happened to me. Except I didn't punch him, but I wish I did. Then his $100000 law suit would have some purpose. Fucking-bitch-ass-shit-whore!

Happy to see that you didnt get wounded ( or very wounded , if you are a little )

The fact is i understand those people with SUV . They are big , powerful , full of space , 4x4 ( most of them ) and high on the road . They make them handle like ( a normal ) car so you feel so confident about yourself !
You think " Nothing can happen , i got some 4x4 and i am taller than everyone " . And thats where people make a big mistake . Not only they're not more secure in that than in any other car ( maybe for being so high compare to a car but there so many SUV on the road now that you got maybe 30 % of hiiting another guy as big as you ... and does someone said "rollover"??? ) but they are a danger for everyone smaller than them ! If a car rear end you , most of the time , only the rear bumper is damaged ... but go see PlatinumZ34 car now ...

And those big ass are 4x4 ... so people think " no need of winter tires , i got enough traction with the 4x4 " . And then again another mistake . Ok maybe you will have "enough" traction with your 4 seasons tires at -10 , -20 - or even -30 . But hey ! You need to BRAKE !!! 4x4 or not , your truck weight 2 times my car ... need 2 times more traction to brake !

Here actually the outside temp is ( based on my prog plugged with the military base at 20 km from here ) -31 Celcius . CELCIUS . Even my Toyo Observe G-02 Winter tires ( one of the best winter tire i know with the Blizzak ) slip on tarmac . So imagine a big SUV with 4 season tires ...

Sorry for your car dude ! I am even sure that the guy who rear ended you was going to the grocery store or to the arena or kindergarden to pick up the childs ...

                      Engine + Tranny = Original
                      Km = 314000
Number of 3.4 badges on the car = only one

Hopefully no whiplash, and no other injuries.

Ever think of a 300zx? I loved mine... had an '85 turbo, but

haha yes i have definately been thinking about a 300, one of my dream cars, the only ones i have seen for sale here are in the 10-14000 dollar range tho (more than a 95 LT1 T/a leather t-tops, 6 speed, less mileage... 9-11000). Both of which are slightly out of my price range, unless i get a loan, which i dont think i could do at this time, i'd say if it were to get written off i'd be spending 6500-8000 on a new car, more than i've ever spent before :P

as for the Z... I took it to a mechanic and he said its border line for being written off. If theres no suspension/frame damage it is probably good to go. He looked at it and said it'll need a new license plate holder thing, tailights, and i dunno what they're gonna do with the trunk, pull it out hopefully, and then repaint the backend (again) its just scratched/couple chips but hey, if its not getting written off its gettin repainted (second time within a year haha), re-fix the bumper skin, it got pulled down and the tabs are ripped out. Trunk lid itself is pretty much good, a little twisted and warped but easily fixed i think/hope. Suspension feels iffy but it might be good, this time my exhaust didn't get hit, which is a benefit of getting hit by a taller vehicle i guess, so that should keep the quote a little bit lower. I'd say its got about a 40% chance of being written off, as my guess. I'll just tell them i paid 10 grand for it, but wrote 3000 on the bill of sale for fun.
