We don't have an appearance forum, so I guess this belongs here. The important thing in this article is the silicone spray. Keeps your windows and doors from freezing. Freezing is very hazardous to electric windows! Also the W-Body fragile door handles, that cost a small fortune to replace. Silicone spray is good for all types of rubber weather stripping. Trunk lid, hood, doors, windows. It will also keep your door locks free. Next tip: Adjust your door handles to a point, that you can open it with your pinky. Apply white lithium grease to ALL moving parts! Last tip for winter: Always! Let it warm up, at idle for at least 15 minutes.... No matter what kind of oil you use. See ya in the spring. http://www.commuter-register.org/wash2.html

Yeah, too bad there wasn't something for fuel doors... Mine filled with snow and ice and froze completely solid. I had no way of opening it at the gas station. I tried a screwdriver and other things but it would not open, so I just had to bash it pretty hard. Well now it dented and scratched up.1995 Grand Am GT

15 minute warm-ups, damn. I don't know about you but gas is $0.76/Liter here. At the most I warm my car up until the temp guage reads just above 40 Celcius. That usually equates to 2-5 minutes, last week it was -30 to -40 celcius here. Damn cold. But I'm running Castrol Syntec 0-W30, starts no problem, very good stuff. I think I'm still going to install a oil pan heater though.

It's pretty cold in MN where I live but still only around -22C peaking around -31/-35 (rarely). Over new years with wind chill it was so cold smoking outside /w a beer --- you could watch the beer freeze. It was pretty cool I must admit. Never seen anything like it. Cold beer all night. Ironically they didn't exactly freeze until they were opened.
As for gas, it's around $2.88/Gal here which is around the same price. It was about 3.20/gal last week ($.84/liter). Wouldn't be terrible if I was driving my Cutlass but my 73' GMC gets around 3 miles to the gallon in town. So around $1.00/mile to drive. Assuming I'm nice to it which is impossible cause it's such a torquing whore.

Ahhaha. Water in a cup from the gas station would have melted the gas door. Or pee on it!!! LOL
Hmm I have siliconed my door weather striping but not my trunk. Good idea cause when it freezes it squeaks going down the road back there LOLsigpic New 2010 project (click image)

I should've looked at the date but considering the price per liter being about matched to gas locally --- assuming Canada was about the same for gas in some areas.
But a quick google search reveals it's around $1.00-1.20/lt; ergo, it's a bit more.
Canada has enough oil to charge their people less to drive. It's not like there is that many people up there. What 33 million? Then again Canada signed Kyoto so that could explain it? Not implying nothing BTW; just a observation.

LOL complaining about gas at $0.76 per Liter. The best you can find it here is at Costco at about $0.96per Liter and that is only for members and it is a 20 min drive on the freeway to get it. In the city gas is usually around $1.10 per liter.
But in any case GM sells a silicone emulsion which is the preferred product for weatherstrip. And you apply it as a paste so you put it where you need it and it dries clear.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

I don't typically find myself complaining about gas. But I only only drive about 20 miles a week. So my monthly average is around $76/mth. Come spring I'll walk to the store. It's only a couple miles. But when it's -30 it's pretty gay walking anywhere.
Once my Cutlass is running that'll be around $12/mth for the Cutlass.
I'm putting a Holley 4bbl on the truck once I don't have to drive it as a get around vehicle. Make it super fun truck.
I'm eager to line up with a Vortec Max /w the 4bbl. Currently it'll tear a 5.3 vortec a new one but the 6.0L takes me hands down.
I also need to change plugs/wires on it. The motor has about 9,000mi on the rebuild so I figure it's time to change those out. Plus it skips a beat from time to time.

My Cutlass is going to need a new door handle soon. Not too bad yet but it's getting there. I don't know what that old guy did in that car but everything is worn in it. The window buttons have little paint and they get stuck from time to time.
It's amazing how well the cars held up and been so good over the year. I imagine that's why I love these car though. They just take it. Rain or shine they pretend they are in their prime.
