Costco 41" tool box. Has any body ever bought/used or known anyone who has? I'm considering buying it. Except the one that is available here is exact same only brushed stainless steel. It is an awesome price and seems to be good quality with a good warranty. Tell me what you think.

    RE: Tool Box

My best friend just bought one, paid $550 i think for the same one in stainless( not burshed alum), i would wait for them to go on sale like he did. He saved over 500 bucks on it. If you don't want costco you can find a good used box for much less than that, and with a higher quality name.
He loves that box, but the drawers are sort of hard to pull out then they fly open, i know it's so they don't just open on a uneven surface, but when loaded with 30 lbs of tools on that one shelf it sucks.
If i were you i wouldn't spend that much on a costco box, u can get a crapsman cheaper than that. JMO later Jay

A lot of craftsmen don't have roller bearings. That is critical IMO. I have a cheapo setup but its roller bearing and its very nice despite its name and price. If I was looking for a larger one, id be on ebay and looking on google for used.

That is a big name tool box but re-badged for Costco. It was on Trucks and is a very good piece. My uncle has one. The deep drawers have 2 roller slides on each side

Well, this box from Costco here is $830.00 CDN. I was looking here at the equivelent Craftsman and it is $1400.00 for the set (on sale). Not to mention the Costco one has heavier castors and 5 times the warranty. I'm all about Craftsman, but I'm having a really hard time justifying buying it over the Costco box.

Anymore input would be great. Just incase you are interested, here is the equivelent Craftsman 2 peice box I'm looking at. Also note that this is the BEST 2 peice set available from Sears Canada. The US has like 5 times more tool boxes available.

Buddy of mine got that tool box for Xmas as well. He's happy with it, and he's a fairly picky guy.

great price for a what you get

I got a $750ish Homak box from Sams club, roughly the same size. I'd never buy anything else, if I ever needed more room I'd just buy another one. As long as you get the roller slides, full width drawer and good casters you'll be set. One difference I've seen is my fullwidth only has one set of rollers while most uber-expensive boxes have 2 sets. If you're careful with your stuff it won't be an issue, I have a ton of sockets in mine and it's fairly sturdy.

I'm going to take a closer look at the Costco unit when they get more stock. Good info boys, keep it comin'.
