New 06 Monte-what was old is now new. All the monte folks should feel like we know the new nose a bit I think. I like the black one on the Chevy site.

Here's some more bigger better pics.

BTW for those that care HHR, Impala SS, and Monte Pics all in the same day! All official.

Wow. I like that! Much much more aggressive looking than the year before. I don't remember if the interior is different, cause it's been a while since I've been in one, but the dash controls look sweet.

It has a 5300 V8 too. Gm is going to make the front wheel bigger than the back in order to improve traction and reduce or eliminate understeer.

Engine still points the wrong way though.

No more 3800's HA HA HA. I believe I said about a year ago that GM is phasing out the 3800's. Guess I was righ t

i can dig it. new front end works well and after a lot of hype and rumors we finally get to see it.

nice to see that they went with a 5.3L. although i wonder why they decided this past model year to change the naems linup to LT, LS, Supercharged SS when this was right around the corner.

and yeah i can see the 3800 going the way of the dinasaur especially since just about every single one of the new engines that GM is producing are either v8 which are obviously 90* blocks or are now 60*v6's. they obviously see the potential.

GM likes to confuse people. This is nice though, a V8 option, and a 3900 base model Its obviously a larger car being a W body (i assume its still a W, not some new platform) so that V8 will be much appreciated.

Im more excited about the 3900 being a base motor, because that makes them junkyard bait sooner

even with the V8 they're keeping it FWD??? and they're making the front tires bigger (i really can't see this...)

Hmm maybe i'll be picking one of these up in a few years when they're used and the price drops... (im too poor and cheap to buy a new car)

Yeah, the LS has it. I just saw the 3.9 and 5.3 listed in the key features. Even better, 3500s and 3900s to be found!

Looks like they kicked up the power of that little 3500 too, wonder what the torque is. Well I'm pleased. Not for nothing but you know when somthing is going to die when Chevy gets leftovers and starts to sell their fine familly automobiles for $17,995. By the way next time anyone flaunts there 3800 just say "Fuck you I can buy your car for pennies on the dollar!" Going price for '98 GTP' $3000. The biggest waste in my book is to spend $5000+ to swap that worthless crap into one the worthless old models just so you can do a 15.5, thats friggen dumb when you can always get the friggen car with that engine it. Well soon nobody is going to get a new car with that engine at all!...Well that's Buick's cast iron crapola, let them have it, and their spare tire too!!

NICE interior, too bad they negated the extra gauges.. I like gauges..I'm happy they kept the rear, finally looks correct with nice wide tires. The front is ehh. I think I like th eolder front better. Yeah the V8 is pointing the Wrong way again! Good luck hooking up with that!

I saw the front and it kind of reminded me of a cavy. But overall I think it looks nice (not that cavies don't look nice!).

Wow, that nose wasn't designed for NASCAR in the least! I am curious about this 3.9L V6, though. Does this mean that Chevy will be giving up on the 3800? It looks like everyone else will be within a year or two.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

Argh well I have this odd feeling this Monte won't be around much after this. Notice the HUGE update the Impala got? New sheetmetal, new dash and all. The monte just got the clips freshened and the powertrain changes. Not that it's a bad thing, but maybe the rumor that the Monte is going onto a difft RWD platform is still true. Just not for '06. Maybe it's a "this will hold you for a few more years" hint. Still nice! Bye 3800! Don't let the cast iron rust, and collect barnacles on your way out!

actually the Monte and the Impala are scheduled to recieve RWD updates in later in the decade...close to 2009 i believe. it's rumored that GM will be making several cars on the same platform...going as far as having the Camaro come back on the same platform as the Monte Carlo, Impala, and a new El Camino. some models are scheduled to be out before others but the Monte and Impala are slated to go RWD somewhere right around 2008/2009 as i've read in a few different places.
