  • Aaron's Z34 vs TGPilot's Talon TSi

Well TGPilot and I met up tonight, and we went at it. A review.

He has a 1994(?) Eagle Talon TSi 5-speed AWD. 15psi boost, mandrel bent aluminum charge pipe, big 16G Turbo, Evo exhaust manifold, full 2.75" mandrel bent exhaust, 2nd Gen MAF, 2nd Gen throttle body adapter thingy-mabobber.

Mine has custom CAI, 9.8:1 compression, .030 overbore bringing me to 3.38 liters, equal length headers, full 2.5" exhaust, UD pulley, chip, dogbone, and Magnecor wires.

We did a roll on, from 20 to about 120. This was from 1st gear to about 6,000rpm in 4th for me. My gears were a bit longer than his, but not by much. Overall, at 120, there was about 1 car length between us, with him in front. Through my 1st and 2nd we were side by side, but he hit third, turbo came on, and I lag for just a split second into 3rd, which hurts me. So his car pulls harder on the high end, but barely. It was damn close, and I'm surprised I was as close as I was. At sea level, he woulda been seein Z34 ass. But it was a good race, in good fun. And I think he liked my intake growl...Yah he did...He'll post later on with the videos, one of which was from a dig, up to 70, and I held him off. But he said he missed 2nd, so he lagged for a split second. Hopefully yall can hear my intake in the vids, cuz its frickin loud. Even with him ahead of me, and his little 4 popper spinning at 7k, he said he could still hear my car clearly.

    Altitude is the devil.

So... you say you were in a street race?

If the answer is (YES), then you are a dumbass.

If the answer is (NO), then I don't believe you. Please refer to answer (YES).

You hear my buddy say "airborne" because at the end of our little run there is a pretty good drop off and we damn near got air! We ran up to 80 on that one.

MOV0002.MPEG was from a 20 MPH roll. We stayed door to door up till 3rd and then I started to walk away. I kept my foot in it just to see what it would do by the hard right turn at the top of the hill. Yes we were racing uphill and it is not a shallow hill! The 5-speed TGP I had would run up to about 100-110 by the top and then hard on the binders. We were up to 125 (according to the speedometer) when I had to get out of it. Probably could have seen 130-135, but my front rotors are so bad (warped) that if I hit that turn on the binders...I would have probably lost it. It is a sharp turn and a redlight in the turn.

Anyway...all I have to say is Aaron that is one fast Z34 man!
I will get my fuel pump, FMIC, and new rotors and we will play again in the Spring!

The vids. My car is the REALLY loud one that sounds like a buzz saw, just a constant race car like growl. REALLY loud. You can barely here his Talon lol.

Yes I was racing, but it was on a LONG, straight, road that isn't busy at all.

At sea level he would still win. Especially if it was a real race at a standing start. A TSI will be infront of a LS1 Camaro until 3/4 track simply because of a TSI's launching capability.

He obviously ment that if he was at sea level and the TSI was in colorado going up hill, and only then he would be seeing Z34 ass....with a big ass telescope
I wish 10% of the people on the road knew how to drive

You can see the video, we were side by side from a dig...

No both of us at seal level, I'd win.

His TGP OWNED me up here, we moved to 1200ft(Missouri), and i beat it by a half second and 5mph in the 1/4mi, and that is a BIGASS difference.

I say you blow your damn motor at sea level cause your computer isn't tuned for your mods and making the power you claim (300 was it on fiero.nl...), its gonna lean out hardcore and get tons of KR and maybe melt a piston.

Hmm, lets think about this, faster at any elevation is stil faster, so if someone is faster at 1200 feet, then they will still be faster at sea level...

Aaron do you ever try to think before saying shit?

What are you talking about? His TGP beat me up here, as did his TSi, I beat his TGP at near sea level badly, I'll do the same to his TSi.
How else do you explain him pulling multiple car lengths up here, and both cars, in the EXACT same condition, going down and me beating him by that much?

Yah I think it makes 280-300hp, in that range. I pull a car length or more on a LT1 6-speed, which has better gearing, more tq, and way less miles(40k vs 134k), but also has more drivetrain loss. As for sea level tuning, I think that the factory setup will be able to compensate enough, basically I don't think that my KR or air/fuels will be beyond what the factory ECU can't fix, but who knows, maybe maybe not. It won't be going to sea level under my ownership.

I wish I had that kind of unfounded optimism. 23# injectors supporting 300hp. I guess its possible but im not buying it without the dyno sheet and the injector load/AF ratios. Yeah, you get on my ass about some numbers...my turn.

I agree with Lyle... you are a moron. I know of plenty of street racing that has occured on long, open roads and somehow someone got hurt or killed anyway. There are things called deer, blownouts, that car or person that comes out of nowhere. Next you'll be telling us how you outran the cops!

I've come to the conclusion that you move alot. Originally in Colorado Springs, then started at OSU (Stillwater, OK) as a freshman, at which point a week into the semester you were building some sort of race car (what ever came of that?), and now you state that sometime recently you lived in Missouri. I remember when you got your headers done and in all the time since then, I never remember you living in Missouri. And its not like Missouri is close to OSU either, so I don't see driving to Missouri just to race. Especially when there are plenty of those long, open roads in Oklahoma, probably at lower altitudes than Missouri.

Or is this one of those instances where sometimes you fuck up?

I have never had my car in Oklahoma, I went to school without it. The race car was for the OSU Formula Racing Team, and I am still doing that. But it isn't a street car, its like a go kart. I am back in Colorado Springs now for the holidays. Missouri was a year or two back, for the WBG, and we all drove down there, and at one point visited the quarter mile, but I never lived there. This was back without headers and on my old motor.

I guess I do carry the optimism-but I really don't think it'd be an issue. I went down to El Paso, TX(like 500ft), on my new motor without my headers for a week, and the car ran great. Who knows? But it won't be mine when it goes down to sea level. About the injectors, LT1 Camaros are running 275-285hp, and they only have 16s or 18s IIRC, but a W41 Quad 4 has like high 30s for only 190 IIRC.

LT1s use 23# injectors, but eight of them, not six.

Only 6??? Dang I didn't know that, I guess they have just a single one feed the two intake valves that are side by side?

Just typically V8s have small injectors, and V6 meduim, and 4 bangers have large injectors.
