Is that just saying they can use factory gen 2/gen 3 intake manifolds. I would assume they aren't talking about the uber rare factory aluminum test heads and intake manifolds.

It is vague, but I take it to mean the gen2 heads. This is kind of major, because while GT is a pretty liberal class, the SCCA is usually a stickler for,
"If it didn't come with it ya can't race with it".

In GT they kind of accept the engine and the body separately.

According to the GT2 Classification guide, the induction is unlimited. Any carbs, any F.I. I'm not sure SCCA knows what they just did.

Interesting. Now if only the ""street prepared" solo2 classification would allow swapping heads. Intake manifolds are unlimited, but heads must be stock. :-\

I agree with V6h.o., that they meant you can use the aluminum heads becuz they came on many stock GM cars. So since they are technically not aftermarket, they are allowed.

yea they are saying you can use gen 2/3 stuff.

Although I did have a set of Gen 1 aluminum heads about 5 months ago. Ended up selling them.

thinking back I should have kept them and put them to use on aluminum block. The gen 1 heads can be ported to flow around 180+ cfm on the intake side which is enough to support 250 hp with the right fuel injection setup. which of course I have an very free flowing intake setup. Could have been the first all aluminum setup in a Fiero with a Distributor and all factory looking components. Oh well.

The heads were of only 1 of 3 sets made or so I was told be someone up in GM. I wanted to use gen 3 heads though as they flow awesome out of the box.

Kind of wish I gave them a shot with a good port job Oh well I got a decent about of money for them. Well tech not since i still have yet to be payed for them. Again, oh well. Live and learn.

I dont know why they would allow aluminum heads, I don't think it would fall under the update back date rules, since they were never offered in the model range.

Gen2/3 luminum heads are not legal for SCCA SOLO2 Street Prepared competition on Fiero's. Rebel is right...it would have to come in under an update/backdate rule, which it doesn't. This would be like me running LS6 heads on my Camaro, since they came stock on another engine. When the rules say "heads must remain stock" it means "heads must remain stock as they came on this particular car".

I think they are allowing them on the GT2 Fieros to help even the playing field so the almost 20 year old Fieros can remain cometitive.

I should make it clear, the rules I was referring to were for Club Racing, not SoloII, or Rally or anything else.
