  • Finally got my Cutlass back on the road

It was nothing major, but for about a year, I have been having problems with the insurance company, so I took the Cutlass off the road. I finally got the insurance back last weekend, so first thing monday, I got my new registration, and went for the inspection.

I knew that it would pass safety, but I was not sure about Emissions. Ben did a good job tuning it, but I can tell at idle, it was still running a little rich.

Anyways, they finally ran the car, and it passed everything.

My HC was a little on the high side, but other than that, all is good with it.

Just for those that don't know, it is my 1988 Cutlass Supreme that I have the built up 3100 in it being run on 1993 programming, and emissions equipment.

On a phunnier note, they nearly failed me for an EXHAUST LEAK. But when they looked under the car, they could not find it. They thought that since the car was so loud, that it had to have a leak. It shocked the shit out of them when they found out if was just the flowmasters.

Nice! Did you need any fury to pass emissions?

Ha! Yeah flow's can be quite the loud system.

Good to hear its back on the road.

I also have the smaller cat on it, so it does not muffle the sound quite as much as the original larger cat does.

Here in Texas, when they do the inspection, they have to drive the car around for about a mile or 2. When the guy got back, the first words out of his mouth were "what the hell kinda engine you got in this thing?"

And then when he opened the hood, he and several other guys stopped what they were doing to look, and he even asked where I got headers for it.

He said that in the 20 years he has been working on cars, he did not think that he would ever see a 3,1 pull that kind of power.

Of course, he has also never seen a car with a HUD, so I don't think that is really saying much about him.
