Ok I have been pondering 2 things for a while and am just looking for some opinions. Keep in mind any swap I do must be 100% emissions friendly for 1993. Fully drivable everyday and easy on gas aswell.
I have been considering 2 swaps. The first it an LS(1,2 or 6) V8. No I dont want a Vortec V8 it is too heavy and I want it near the same weight as my current all iron 3.4L. Also it doesn't pack the punch of an LS engine. Second consideration is a 3.6L VVT. The good thing about this is I can keep my tranny and by pics I have been seeing it looks like I can maybe keep my mounts too. I dont want a 3500 or 3900 because they are a bitch to make RWD. Hood clearance maybe an issue too.
Now keep in mind these engine will probabally cost near the sme amount used. But the V8 will have more power off the start and more support aswell. However it will cost more and take more time to install. The 3.6L will take some custom work but at least I can keep alot (or all) of the drivetrain and it will be smaller (length wise) leaving more room in the engine compartment. The V6 will give me alot of good usable power and probabally put the truck in the 14's. But the V8 would put in in the 12's or 13's
