  • Cold Air (Conditioning) Intake

i recenly heard about a guy who invented the CACI
    cold air (condintioning) intake
what you do is route your ac so that when you turn it on it blows the cold air directly into your intake instead of into the cabin
think about how cold your ac can get sometimes
damn wouldnt that be cool to be constantly shooting COLD air into your engine

Nah. From what I've seen, running the AC takes the performance away anyways, so it would cancel its self out. So basically pointless.

bwahsahahaahaahaaha. Your kidding about thinking this is a good idea right?

Ive seen so many fucking tools do their take on this type of intake for years on the JBO.. one guy even CUT holes into his firewall had tubes that ran from his HVAC box, out into the engine bay and hooked up to his Intake manifold...

You do realize the the A/C will rob more HP than you will ever gain from the colder air. by the time the air from the Hvac makes it through the tubes into the Hot engine bay., the air is just the same temp.

Or you could just make a freon injection, like NOS! WOW! :P Or combine Freon and Nitrous....or have an ice maker drop cubes into the intake...or a heat pump! Yeah..That's the ticket. Heat pumps! No wait, import air from Mars, the ambient temp is -145deg. That won't work..no oxygen...I'll figure this out yet! Liquid Nitrogen!! Not only produce tons of HP, but freezes your cars sperm too! I could have lots of lil' baby cuttys......

It'd be worthless on a 3.4L TDC anyways, the car automatically disengages the AC when it is above +-90% throttle.

I meant plus or minus a few percent. I'm not sure if its at 90 exactly, but its around there. It might even be WOT.

Further proof, back when i was running 16.85s in Pueblo, half the runs were with A/C on, I had forgotten to turn it off. I was like wtf??? But then bowtiekid exxplained the above to me.

so what your saying is, your car is still slow even with the AC off?

hey hey hey, a 16.xx on a stock Z34 5-speed at PMI isn't that sorry. But I think I had other problems, that must have been when I was still trying to get the car to run right, I don't remember. It could have been when my knock sensor was bad, but I doubt it could run a 16.85 with a bad knock sensor, it felt way slower. But a 16.85, adjusted, is like a mid 15 isn't it?
