  • Backwards cam timing mod

hey guys i was doing some research and stumbled up this little mod
what you do is take your cam and have a new one ground opposite
so that the intake comes in through the exhaust and vice versa
its supposed to add about 20 hp on a pushrod 660
cause of the change in wave dynamics
only thing you have to worry about is venting the exhaust out from under the hood and refitting your fuel injector into the exhaust manifold
also since the intake comes in through the muffler it makes ram air alot easier
if anyone tries this let me know how it goes
    I Like V660s

well in his defence he posted at 12:32pm (pacific standard time). which is prime saturday drinking time. I would like to know where he discovered this theory, and where I might be able to find some

I herd you can just cross the pushrods over and you dont need to get the cam re ground.

Sadly not trying to stick up for him, But engine builders experemented and did used to do this back in the 50's 60s with engines. IIRC the one engine i saw where they had done this on was a Buick v8 I believe, Changed it so that the intake came in through what was the exh port, and the exh exited out the intake port. looked pretty crazy with headers fab'd and bolted up on what would/should be a Intake manifold location..

But... I do not see any point in doing this in todays world of engines...

I saw a car with the muffler and tip pointing out below the front bumper.

ive actualy seen this done, but with a ford flathead. they ran the exaust through the old intake ports and actualy machined new intake ports beside the now exaust port. the headers ran beside the intake plenum. the motor was also turbo-ed with fuel injection in a car that ran on the salt flats.

seen this on a desiel one time. Of course it was the aux engine to heat the engine fluid too though.
