Yep. They put hugh (relative) nitro engines in those things. Tweak them, and tune them out to the max, they can cost as much as a real boat.

My Electric RS4 when dialed in right can run 50+ for 5 min.
This is with custom hand made balanced armatures, hand picked magnets, and the biggest MAH matched nicad you can find.

This is RS4's introductory 4WD touring car, and this is also my modified racer, it old but holds some key on-road features. I have one complete kit left to support it.

Adjustible Dual ball differentials, pivot ball front suspension/steering and reactive caster, very tunable, very rigid chassis without graphite over the Pro 1&2, even more rigid with graphite beats pro3 in for and aft flex. Full bearings, low final drive, and alumium screws through out.

I would like to get a Aveox brushless for this car then the speed would be insane.

I raced it at Hobby Town USA several times and beat alot of RS4 Pro's, I also crashed there harsh and torn my graphite chassis in half so now it is on a stock chassis. I only crashed this car once harsh, this car when dialed to the road hugs dam good.

This car is quite collectible, as this was intro'ed in 1996. I still think it is better than the PRO series RS4's

That some pretty good wire size to the motor. How many amps will it pull under load?

480A rated drive current, 20-480A typical...The motor only uses what it needs to run, this ESC can handle very hot turns (less then 6.)

okay I just checked it out with my meter, it shows a 165A start up, 32.8A continuous.

I have the Novak Tempest MAX HyperfetIII, read up on it here the amended is at the bottom.

I have melted end and inner tabs, blown cells up, melted the shrink wrap right off the batteries you can buy ready made. Thats why I end up building my own.

My RC-10 Started on fire one time, that was in my early years as a RC enthusiast.

I also ran so hot that brushes lasted one heat same with the armature.

Now there is a limit you must be able to run a heat for 5 min for modified used to be as fast as you can complete a set amount of laps. That took alot of strain off the batteries, you just have to dial it to dump the battery in 4.9min and the person with the most laps and position in the lap wins 1st.
