dude we got an assload of snow last night here in the thumb of the lower paninsula of michingan
      like 3 or 4 inches i think
man i was on my way home last night and there was people in the ditch, sliding all over the place
i had to make like a 6 or 7 mile trip at about 20-25 mph and there was very limited visibility

however i would love to do it sometime, and in southern illinois we dont have anywhere local to ski or snowboard... plenty of places to blade or skateboard though

No shit. My buddies say Indiana is pretty good. Maybe 3 hours for us. Course a guy I know broke his leg up there couple years ago.

And i know, i live in regina people. Coldest populated place in Canada by my estimations.

Another reason i love snow: 1) when its cold but no snow, its REALLY cold
                2) with snow sun reflects off the snow and warms it up a bit
                3) snow rules.

WTF? You live in Regina, you're a southerner. I grew up in MeadowLake, Sk. I was working for a lumber yard the year after high school. I tell you, that was fucking cold. I worked outside 8 hours a day. I remember working several days that winter when it was like -50 degrees with the wind chill. It's like so cold you don't even want to go in to warm up, because 5 minutes won't do it, it only makes things worse. You go home after a day like that and you stand in a HOT shower and the water runs cold off you cold for 15 minutes. After a half hour of that you just start to warm up. BRUTAL!!

Funny thing though, I remember watching the news last winter and one day, Key Lake, Sk. was reported to be "The coldest place on the planet." It was -52 degrees without the wind chill that day. I laughed my ass off. Cause key lake isn't that far from Meadow Lake. At that same time, my mom called me one day and said that it was -46 degrees that morning.

I haven't witnessed anything colder than -35 since I moved to the city. Even though, apparently Edmonton is the largest, northern city. I would have thought Moscow would have had that one for sure. Ahwell.

I couldn't imagine living in the NWT or Nunavut. Crazy, seal hunting bastards.

I believe that we should have snow for 2 weeks a year. Just long enough to kill off the bugs. Other than that, bring on the heat.

Well, no matter how hard you try Alberta/BC will always have the best ski hills. Not like I ski, but I had to defend the west.
