  • 3.5L 90 degree Twin Cam Baby Star

My girlfriend just bought a 1999 Olds Intregue, and within the first day it stalled while trying to warm it up. It also stalls in motion. No codes and no pending either.

I can assume things that might be the issue:

Tune up because it has 91k on the clock
Possible Fuel pump or fuel delivery issue like Injectors, regulator.

The timing is dead on and actually got to time it with a scope when it was acting strage then died, the timing never changed so it most likely can't be a sensor dealing with this.

The only thing I notice is the the pedal has a dead spot when pressing it from a stop. It takes a small amout of travel to rev the engine up some, A TPS can cause intermittent stalls.

If anyone has any input that would be appreciated.

I would suggest that if she just bought it, take it back to where she bought it and have them fix it, even on used cars there should be at least a 30 day warrentee, unless it was a private sale.

Other than that, tune up, check the range on the sensors, if you suspect the TPS check it out. Also I have noticed that a lot of newer vehicles are 'slower to respond' to pedal movements than older vehicles, a lot like you decribe as a "dead spot".

She bought it from Vern Eide, and was bough AS-IS no warrenty. Are you saying even if we bought it AS-IS there should be a 30day no lemon policy or something.

I doubt I will get them to fix for free.

          Here is SD law:

The only thing that may be in my favor is 'Non-conforming condition', where as this condition on the first day of owning the car we almost rear-ended a car because it stalled, yeasturday she almost got hit because it stalled in the intersection.
