  • Why did GM drop the 282/284 FWD MT's back in the day?

Why was the 282/284 FWD MT used in late 80's / early 90's dropped? Tried a quick google search with no luck, now onto the 60*v6 experts.

The 284 was dropped because sales of the manual transmission + 3.4 DOHC were too low to continue production. GM pretty much stopped selling V6 + Manual transmission in a FWD market after 1994. The 4 cylinders began using a new manual transmission as well.

The 284 being dropped makes sense to me since it had limited use, only in the 3.4's IIRC, so you can understand that. The 282 however, I don't understand. I'm pretty sure the sales were ok with them, and you can use them with so many different engines. However, if GM decided they don't need it anymore, then whatever thats their choice, I don't care 'cause I still have my 282!!!

I like my NVG-T550. I don't see why one would want an automatic, after having driven that thing for so long.
