As far as the local elections go... I graduate in 6 weeks and will be leaving Kansas, so the local elections didn't really matter to me either.

I just think about how my friends/co-workers and I are with our elections. We vote for who we think will do the best job (or the least worst). But If we don't trust them (and why should we?) we don't lie to our selves and start bobbin' nob.

LOL this is so true. The only person I back is the one who I voted for who it the only independant in the house. This is the only one I have to give a shit about because he calls the shots for where I live

Lets look at it this way. If Kerry and Bush were our government. Bush would have majority power. But Kerry would still have tons of say in the matters of the country. This way not all hope would be lost LOL.

Oh goody! Facts! Why don't you share these 'facts'? Please respond, because I can't wait to crush whiny idiots who didn't vote. Oh, thats right, you CAN'T vote.
Well the fact is, that a 10 year old monkey could figure out what bush is really about. I'm saying there is a ton of shit on bush, mostly bad, even the good stuff has to be so sugar coated it'll still make your teeth rot. the thing is, you guys choose to be so fucking blind about it, if there is a one percent chance that a fact could be wrong you think it is wrong. You would sit around all day saying every negative point is untrue. The odds could be a billion to one that none of the points given was true. But you would still sit back and say I guess it's a fluke then.

I'm not even going to talk actuall facts. Because you wouldn't even give them a second thought before you dismiss them as bullshit. Well chances are that at least one of you guys will loose your job because bush sent it to china.

This is all I am saying cause this will go on forever.

Thats what I thought. Not a single fact or figure. Since you're all talk and zero substance, I'll give YOU facts from this September. US unemployment: 5.4% Canadian unemployment: 7.2%

Since you mentioned outsourcing, lets talk about that. What's wrong with free trade? I thought thats what capitalism is all about. But if all these jobs were outsourced, why is our unemployment so low? The reason is that for every job shipped overseas, another one is created. Roughly 70% of jobs today didn't exist 5 years ago. I'll admit that I don't know where I heard this figure and that I can't even confirm its validity. However, considering the number to technology jobs created and new small companies (including my own) begun, I bet its pretty accurate.

Maybe we should ship more jobs to Canada...looks like you guys could use the charity.

I'm sorry to hear that your country thinks that we need your jobs more than you. I don't want your job. Believe me, they would be shooting themselves in the foot, if they tried to save money by giving me the job. No way I would work for any less than you guys get paid.

However, the states has this thing with buying up small Canadian companies then exploiting them. They do things like mass layoffs, cutting benefits and profit sharing, then after these great improvements they call for an increase in productivity. Sounds fair.

"But if all these jobs were outsourced, why is our unemployment so low? The reason is that for every job shipped overseas, another one is created" The problem is, the jobs lost are good paying manufacturing jobs, and they are being replaced with jobs at the local Walmart or other so-called "McJobs". We've lost 2 good manufacturing plants here in my area over the past 4 years, a total of about 3,000 jobs, with one being shut because of jobs being sent overseas. I see some of them working at Home Depot now. I know some have had to move away to find work. My father-in-law went from a $70,000 a year welding job to a $28,000 a year janitor job, and he was a lucky one. And that's not written in any newspaper or reported on t.v. That's an eye-witness account.

just as I'm reading your responce the news reported that Iowa accidently had 30,000 votes for bush that were'nt accually casted.

good to know you sold out your fellow democrats, and yes I do know that it is okay for companies to support political parties, but when they are responsible for tallying the votes for a major election they should'nt be biased to one canidate.

personally I think this election doesn't only fuck half the united states, but most of the world so I think the feedback the Canadians have is good to read.

don't quote my shit anymore , this bullshit election is over. I done talking about shit that can't be changed

for the Bush supporters- No hard feelings, we only make choices that we believe will benefit our world. this was my second time voting. the first was in 94'. I try to make choices that will benefit our children, because thats what it should be about.

now excuse me but I must leave, I gotta go get ripped. It's what helps me cope with day to day life. Because no matter who the president is

I understand and sympathize. Its true that some people will be worse off when jobs shift around. However, what the doom-and-gloomers don't mention is that some people's situations improve after a layoff. I bet a few of those unemployed welders started their own companies and made even more. Oh, and thats not written in any newspaper or reported on t.v. That's a PERSONAL account (well, I'm not a welder, but the situation was the same).

The 5% of those people who made out better does not justify the loss of 3,000 jobs. And Aaron, I was going to try to make a point to you, but I'm not even going to bother now. You messed up my plan. Thanks a lot!

I bet the figure is over 50%. We've been closing factories for hundreds of years. If only 5% of people were doing something better for themselves time after time, we'd probably look like India (or Canada!).

Lets turn the tables. How would you keep the factory open?

We haven't been closing factories for hundreds of years. We've been building them. They've only been closing for the past 20 or 30 years. I don't know what it looks like down there in sunny Florida, but take a drive north through the old steel towns in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Ask the people you see there about how there lives compare now to 20 years ago. I'll bet a whole lot less then 50% say it's better. And heres an idea to keep those plants open: stop rewarding companies for sending jobs over seas. Or how about stopping unfair trade practices? Or putting presure on third world contries to improve their labor laws, thats if they have any? I'll bet if there was a 500% tax on a pair of Nikes, or your "all American" Levi's because they were made with slave labor, Nike would be making sneakers here, and Levi's would have never left! That's right, there is not ONE Levi's plant left in the US or Canada. By the way, for those who still care, New Balance makes most of there products here yet, and here is a sight where you can get UNION MADE jeans: http://www.diamondcutjeans.com/

Its unlikely labor laws will get better in the next 10-20 years. America just re elected a conservative republican who is set to appoint 3 Supreme Court judges who guess what? Will most likely be conservative(read: anti labor and anti union)
