Oil leaks huh? Hmm.....I do sell the occasional gaskets for them but mostly it's harmonic balancers and intakes I'm worried about.
It's going in for safety today, so we'll see what it needs.

Quad 4 more reliable than a Duke?? Hell no man. Not in a million years. Dukes are used as generator power plants, marine engines and pump motors just because they never let you down. From the beatings I have herd of a Dulke surviving I would put it at the top of my list for reliable engines.

I know, I'm just being stupid.
I've always had the urge to build a crazy quad, but the thought of building an engine and driving a handful of miles before it blows or something just doesn't sound good.

I think the 3.1 is a solid challenger. Carl has beat the hell out of his, along with overheating it twice, melting spark plugs, 2 quarts low on oil....and it still runs like nothing happened! My 3.4 DOHC would have thrown its timing belt and someone elses for good measure if I mistreated it like that!

Id build a quad but I have the 60V6 version of it and a boat of a car that needs some torque to move around.

Yea the 3.1L is great too. So was my 2.8L and my new 3.4L. I never do anything to it except oil. I wind the shit out of it every time I drive it. Plus I take it to the track every now and then.

Oh and to that note Go T5 Tranny!!!

Why do you guys hate the 3800 so much? I like both 60 and 90 degree engines.

I did manage to break the previous 3.1 block that my Z24 had.
When it was still my wife's car the rad fan motor had stopped working without me knowing, and in some traffic we overheated it to the point of stalling. It never boiled over or anything, just stalled. We got it running again, I ripped down some backstreets just to keep air going through the rad. When I finally got it torn down, #3 cylinder was cracked.
But other than that, 3.1 has my vote for reliable motors.

3.8 is a damn good engine...my dad (who used to work in a GM factory to get himself through law school) always used to tell me about how buick developed it, then GM sold it to american motors...and it was so good they had to buy it back from them

I used to drive a 3.8 regal...nice car...its def a luxury v6, not a sporty one, but Ide own another

Its not the buick engine that we hate, its the people that own them
