if you let them have some other type of union that would have the same tax benefits that'd be considdered "sepperate but equal" which is politically incorrect - so they can't get those benefits either. I don't see what they need to be "married" if they are prefectly happy together in a monogamous relationship - if they think getting married will make them any less likely to cheat, they'd better wake up.

I personally don't like the idea of Gay Marriage and I've done a bunch of research to back up why we shouldn't accept it.

I think we should let people do what they want. I love how gay people apparently have no rights, and have no freedoms and can't marry as they choose. How about we get rid of marriage all togethor, because any bad points it has for gay people it must have for straight people.

Dont get me wrong, im the biggest homophobe alive, i know its a bad thing but what can i say. Im fine with gay marriages as long as i never see two guys kissing or holding hands in public (i have seen them holding hands, and i dragged my girlfriend at the time acrossed the street cause i didn't want to walk by them... i told you im homophobic)

okay, I have nothing against homosexuals, but they have the same freedom that EVERYONE has, they have the freedom to marry someone of the opposite sex, or to not be married, I have that choice, you have that choice and they have that choice.

They try to claim they are "Born that way" but that is simply not true, homosexual people can be "turned straight" but they first have to admit that their homosexual behavior is the problem - that'd be like gettin' an alcoholic to admit they have a problem - it just won't happen - so in reality, it's considdered a "lifestyle choice" which is something currently under debate as to being turmed like that in the scientific comuinity - this is also why they still call it "sexual preference" because that shows they have a choice about it, which in fact they do.

so either marry someone of the opposite sex, or remain single.

if they want to share assets, they can set up an S-corp, they can will their items to one an other, and they can swap power of attorney - they don't need the "good houskeeping marriage certificate of approval"

But why is the government given the right to decide who can marry and who can't? I can think of alot better things in this world that should be law than the right for gays to marry. Are they causing harm to anyone by being married? Is having gay couple ruining the economy? We have kids out there right now commiting murder, some times more violently than adults, but they aren't prosecuted as such because "their minds are still developing and they don't right from wrong". Bullshit.

And someone listed the Webster's origin of the word marriage, but didn't list the actual definition...

1 a (1) : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) : the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage <same-sex marriage> b : the mutual relation of married persons : WEDLOCK c : the institution whereby individuals are joined in a marriage

this is begining to become disgusting. I'm sick over the whole thing. Homosexuals should have the right to marry whoever they please, same sex, opposite sex it shouldn't matter. I love god as much as the next man, I believe in him to make my life easier in the tough times, but I sure as hell would'nt vote him to be our president, and I believe that church and government should be 2 different things. the bible was written to tell the story of christ not to run a country. Don't base current life situations on a book that was written a couple thousand years ago, that leaves no room for progress, and growth.

If they want that certificate, whats it to you? why would anyone really care if they get it? It sure as hell won't change the way I feel about my wife.

Dave i think you contradict yourself as much as the bible :P.

If they have the same rights as us, why is it that they can't get married? It doesn't bother me any. Marriage isn't about the bible, its hopefully more for love than the law too. Let them marry, this is exactly like the whole situation of African Americans, sure we can be douchebags and say "our forefathers would roll in their graves if they new black men had a chance to be president" Or, we can be human beings and actually consider everyone equal.

Another example of "Equality". In Canada, we have natives and we have native reserves. Everyone is supposed to be equal its part of our freedoms. Well they dont need to pay taxes and they get free education etc. Why? Because it was written in a treaty 800 years (or w/e) ago, and instead of throwing out these outdated laws that state (im taking this straight out of my law book, so im sorry if the one term insults anyone) "Indian's shall receive one medicine box per Reserve, they will be given a proper European education..." We update them to: Free health care and a free university education. Personally i would throw out the laws completely. If society doesn't change we will never better ourselves.

I didn't contradict myself actually, I said they have the same rights as us that right is "if you want to be married, get married to someone of the opposite sex, or don't be married at all"

It's that simple. and Marriage has been 'round a LOT longer then the bible has, hell, it wasn't even till the 1300's (ish) that the church even started to get involved in marriage, then they had an outpouring of people getting married with no witnesses, so the church said "okay, here's some ground rules" not because god said so, or because Jesus said so, but beacuse people were taking advantage of this.

Marriage was mainly for the children - so one man could have children with one woman and not have to worry about their assets going to someone "outside" the family. All his property would go to HIS children - really all marraige was - was a form of verifying the relationship was monogamous.

Now how can two men, or two women naturally have children together? Their body parts when put together can NOT produce children (which was the orignial reason for marriage, before the church got involved too mind you). The reason the Government gives married couples a list of benefits reaching well over the 1000 benefit mark is because they want to protect the NATURAL FAMILY - there's nothing natural about homosexuality.

Now you're going to argue "what about addoption" well of the MANY studies done there have only been two which were done in a scientific manor, and those two studies showed that children of homosexual couples are more withdrawn, more anti-social, have dificulties getting along, and often are involved in more crime.

Did you know the Homosexuals are also breaking laws to try to make themselves look better? Florida law clearly states that Children with siblings to be adopted HAVE to stay together if there are approved families willing to take all of them - in florida, there was a case of two twin girls and their little brother - there was literally 12 families willing to take all 3 of the children, instead because of lawyers and those types of tactics, and an activist Judge, two homosexual men got the twin girls and sepperated them from their younger brother - that's against florida law.

The studies that the homosexual community conduct are often flawed because they will use their "friend" or other persons that they know well, rather then grabbing random couples.

Domestic Violence between Homosexuals is higher then between hetrosexual couples.

Marriage was ORIGNIALLY set up/organized/created to protect the BIOLOGICAL family - how can homosexuals create a biological family ... and even if they do have adopted children, how can they raise the children when there's little to no male-female interaction?

I'm not tryin' to drag the bible into this - I'm not tryin' to compare it to native canadian/native american's - I'm compairing the BIOLOGICAL differences between the couples.

                  TWO men can not procreate
                  TWO women can not procreate
ONE man AND ONE woman CAN procreate.
