  • Saturn Ion Redline

has anyone test driven an ion redline with the 5 speed and sc 2.0 ecotec

i thought it was kinda cool
not big on saturns but the motor and tranny are nice
although i could see appearant restrictions on the motor
im looking forward to checking out the cobalt scss though i like the look of those better
    I Like V660s

I haven't driven one but I've read the article in Motor Trend (or was it C&D) on it vs the SRT4. They were saying it handled a heck of a lot better than the Neon and had the better interior. I think it was only around 2 tenths of a second slower in the 1/4 too (don't quote me on that one).

Yea but the SRT will blow out a head gasket first.

cause the SRT-4 has doesnt have an ecotech
and its a turbo not a roots blower
and because the SRT pushes like 45 more hp

Car makes good power, the tranny is pretty notchy, and there's no LSD (so it likes to spin the inside front tire). The Recaro buckets are simply wonderful.

the SRT-4 engines were poorly designed for the oil passages, and that's what usually blows out on 'em - also with the alumnium heads they use, the gaskets tend to rot out if the cooling system isn't cared for.

the coolant thing could be the same for ANY alumnium head engine tho.

Inded. I dont think any dodge 4 banger has a good rep. Neither do their trannies.

i dont think any dodge has a good rep, except for hemi's which just got retarded reps that were exagerated just a wee bit.

OMG IM BUYING A 2004 DODGE HEMI RAM CAUSE ITS JUST LIKE THE LITTLE RED EXPRESS!!!

Which by the way, my dads' 428CJ Cougar (not the 427SO Cougar which actually was a hemi) completely smoked (about 3 car lengths) the 454hemi little red express that alot of hemi fanactics think was the fastest thing ever to exist. both were slightly modded... ...

sad to say but i have seen LOTS of HEMI'S i work for www.manciniracing.com (check it out! lots of stuff i can get cheap ,like msd, k&n etc) There was a guy who machined the hell out of some hemi heads and got them to work on a SB chevy some how, i saw it in person .
I hate dodge just as much as the rest of you, but my cousins SRT-4 is pushing over 300 hp and i drove it and HOLY HELL IT IS FAST, yeah it's a dodge, but it also has a warranty.
But for the person who compared the red line ion to the srt4 is on crack, the srt is much faster. GM's problem is that they don't want any four banger forced induction car to be sold that when modded by the masses like what happened with the srt4 taht it can hang with their baby (the vette) JMO.

OH and yeah i would rather have a bored and stroked 350 sb anyday over a HEMI (hemi=$$$$) (last year i built a 383 stroker and dropped it in a 69 chev p/u DAMN ITS FAST)

I'll second that! GM won't let anything near it's Flagship,

There are various reason why the Fiero got canned, publicly they announced it was the decline in sales, but with time other explanations have risen. Rumors has it (from retired GM head office employees) that Chevrolet canned the Fiero. The 1990 prototype with a 3.2 DOHC would do circles around the vette. It was stated "Why buy a Corvette when you can have 2 Fiero's"

Also, why only one year for the GNX? The only factory GM vehicle that could smoke a Vette (after 80s)

It's probably a good thing that GM doesn't make an ultra-fast musle car cheap enough for just about any 16 year old to afford. A bunch of deaths from excessive speeds of inexperienced drivers would make for bad PR.

Please note: The Dodge 2.4/2.0 DOHC is a joke. It blows head gaskets like a whore does dick and they are basically unrebuildable. Unless, of course you are a hack.
