Yea I have never seen one eathier. They were used until 85. I think Mercades used them too. I have also herd of people swaping them into the Toyada Land cruisers.

I'm pretty sure they were based off the 4.3L we know today because it has the same bore and stroke and firing order. But as for tranny pattern I would imagine it uses the standard chevy one since GM probabally would have used the same castings. Also it was used in RWD and FWD configurations. But who knows they may have made changes to make it the SCP design.

Whats the latest guys? Just wondering. I found an Ecotec picture. All I'm looking for now is N*, Quad 4/Twin Cam, And the other oddball Isuzu engines (which I may or may not include)

My guy at Powertrain isn't always the quickest with some of this stuff... I asked him about changes over the years (kinda to help with the family tree) and its been like 6 months with nothing. I think he gave up on that one. Yet other things he gets back to me in a day or 2.

Here is my starting draft. I need some pics of the missing patterns (this where you all hopefully can come in) and some corrections if I made any mistakes. The final version will of course be more detailed and anyone posting in this thread will get credit (as always with my articles)

Ok did an update. Got a Northstar Pic thanks to Greg.

So all I need are the Quad 4 engine family (Colin I think you can help me here) and the Isuzu engines. However I think I may drop them if I cannot find pics since they are really rare.

Oh you know what I completley forgot. The Inline Vortec engines (2.8L 3.5L and 4.2L)

From teh GM media pics I have been looking at it seems it is the same as the Northstar. Can anyone confirm this?

no they are not like the northstar.. I'll see if i can get a pic of one for you.

I can get you a pic of an ECOtec engine, I have one sitting in my garage with only 8,000 kms brand new :P got it for free to boot!
