WTF? You can't even see the engine, with all the plastic covers and trim in place.

thats becoming more and more common, look under the hood of any newer ford built truck or SUV and all you see is a big piece of plastic with a couple bits coming up for oil, trans and other fluid. Everything else is hidden under the cladding.

It also sells cars to the Automotive Illiterate...The see everything all neat and tidy all the complicated stuff hidden away. Naturally this makes them think the car is easy and inexpensive to work on if a problem occurs.

Aussies have the best ideas. Take every vehicle you make and pack in an LS1 or a Turbo 6. Make it RWD or AWD and make it look cool.

Kind of reminds me of that Friends episode where Ross gets that convertible. Joey asks him, "So how many horsepower does this thing have?" Ross replies, "Who cares! Look how shiney it is!"

Some people just don't get it!

Why is it GM is an American company, but their foreign divisions get to make the cool stuff? Isn't this backward? Or is it that they are out-sourcing coolness too?

Because in Austrailia the demand is there. They are way more into racing and high performance than any North American society

They pretty much have to be teh most inovative and have better ideas than anyone else, due to th elaws they have to work within down there.

One law that just baffles me, is nothing can stick through the hood, no superchargers or anything else for that matter, but you can build a portion of the hood around or over the object (supercharger) to enclose it.

There are a few other very stringent laws as well, emmisions is paramount down there, there are very stringent exhaust laws, so they have to be creative.

Ohwell the LS2 is one of the most powerful yet eco friendly motors out there. No other 400HP engine can boast about 20+ MPG.

If I put one in my truck I would pass any emission test for my year with flying colours. That is why I plan on looking for an LS1 to stick in my truck. It is the one way I can have my cake and eat it too.
