  • air conditioning question

    i have a 94 beretta with a 2.2
the ac compressor was making a jingling noise so i looked at it
it appears that a ring like thingy on the outer side of the compressor is lose and it is what is making the noise
does anyone know what this is and if i need to do anything about it
it isnt affecting the rest of the the vehicle operation at all
and i dont ever use my ac so not even sure if that works or not
basically its just an anoying noise
    I Like V660s

The "ringy thing" is your clutch. It needs replaced. If it is bad enough, you may have to replace the clutch coil also. ( it's a good idea anyway.) If you don't have the specialty tools it takes to do it, and the know how, don't even attempt it. But!! Since you don't use the AC, take the clutch plate off. Easiest way, if you aren't using it, is to cut the 3 straps that keep the clutch ring from flying off when it shears, as yours has. You can do this with a pair of tin snips.
If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

I got the special tools from Pep Boys for $10-20. Only used them once, haven't touched them since, lol.
