I guess all Canadians feel the same way (as seen by the Canadians on this site):

OTTAWA, Canada (Reuters) -- Canadian Member of Parliament Carolyn Parrish had said she hated "damned Americans" and called them bastards in the run-up to the Iraq war.

She found a new moniker, idiots, on Wednesday in discussing the planned U.S. missile defense system.

"We are not joining the coalition of the idiots. We are joining the coalition of the wise," the Liberal legislator told a small group of demonstrators.

Parrish, who had to apologize for her "bastards" remarks last year, at first denied using the word idiots, and when reporters pointed out they had her remarks on tape, she said: "I don't mean Americans are idiots."

Parrish then begged reporters not to use the remarks: "Please guys don't put that on tape," she said. "I already got into trouble once.... Really, please, I've had enough trouble."

Four hours later, however, she hardened her line.

"The last one was a really stupid thing to say," she told Reuters. "Bastards is an inappropriate word. Idiots is a term people use in everyday conversation," she told Reuters.

"They tortured people in Iraq, they (the Iraqis) have no weapons of mass destruction. Could somebody explain to me whether you think they're idiots or geniuses?"

The top spokeswoman for former Prime Minister Jean Chretien, Francoise Ducros, had to resign in 2002 for calling President George W. Bush a moron.

Chretien's successor, Prime Minister Paul Martin, has pledged to put relations with Canada's largest trading partner on a warmer footing.

Martin said after Parrish's latest remarks that the debate about missile defense, intended to guard against attacks from what the United States calls rogue states, was "very, very important."

"There is no room in this debate for that kind of language," he told reporters, waving his hand dismissively. "You're going to get very strongly held views but let me tell you those strongly held views have got to be expressed in language that is acceptable."

But Parrish refused to back down.

"That's Mr. Martin's opinion," she told Reuters. "No, I'm not going to apologize.
Not to start anything, but just figured I'd post it since it has been seen lately that the Canadians on the site have similar opinions about us. And it was on CNN, and I was bored. I'm sure this will start a good arguement... err, I mean, discussion.

thing is, she's counting all americans in the class of the top dog idiot, bush. i sure as hell don't feel the same as him, never did, never will, wouldnt feel bad if the whole white house with him, cheney, powell, rice, and the rest of them exploded spontaneously. it would be a blessing for the USA and the world.

That was a a cheap shot. I personaly, will not single out an entire country. That's just stupid, especially when it comes to the US. Canada and the US have very similar way of life. But it is just who's in power right now, that people don't like. The world view of america is not so hot right now as you probably know. I had two friends that recently took a vacation in europe. They were told off on several occations by people who thought they were american. My friends could hardly get a word in edge wise to tell them they were, in fact Canadian. At that point they issued appologies up and down, then contiued to rant about Bush, etc, etc. Sand state of affairs, I tell you.

Iknow a guy who travels thru out the world and he claims its not a good time for an american to travel world wide now.(hes British). He says you WILL NOT be treated well at international airports. Even in Britain. Claims GWBush has basically isolated us from the rest of the world. Now b4 someone says so what if we are isolated from the rest think about where your next TV set shoes microwave clothes PS2 Nintendo many banks corporations etc. come from. I think we need better foriegn relation than GWBush has gave us (Im not saying vote for Kerry either). Maybe prices wouldnt be so high(GAS?) if the not so far found weapons of mass destruction deal hadnt been so big of an issue and a personal problem with GWBush.(who was really in my opinion not elected anyway)

Exactly. i dont agree with the comment on "idiots"
I personally like Americans as a People. i have no problems with the american people. however i dont agree with American Politics nor the way the country is run.

When we went to Australia/New Zealand we made damn sure we had Canadian Flags sewn to the backpacks. i took 2 of my "Canada" shirts.
and how can you get me Mixed up with this on my back:

its amazing when people find out your a Canadian not american... the difference in attitude towards you is incredible when travelling.

ive had that maple leaf tat for years now. i love my country. just as usual i do things a bit different than most people. lol...

              Canada sure does kick ass!

I got in to a HUGE argument over on S-series about the whole Canada VS America VS Bush VS Michael Moore thing. LOL poked a few nerves on that one. But whatever.

Bush (the way I see it) thinks he can just go ahead and run the world. Thats not cool. Democracy is suposed to be about equal say and majority rule. So if the UN says NO to a war why does he go and do it anyway?

Everything he has touched in the past went tits up. I hope America doesn't

what makes me laugh about the current state of affairs of the USA is the fact that the country was started to get out of the Brittish empire and start a new country that was its own from the empire.... now years later we have the USA trying to emulate the old school style Brittish Empire by trying to force itsself and its policies and thoughts onto the rest of the world and basically try and run the world much like the brittish tryed doing back when america was founded .... its come full circle..
thats just the way i see it some days.

Well yea thats the way it is. Before Bush got into the stew there was no real problem. Except for a few extremists. Now with all the war and terrorist stuff views on America and Bush are forming in the worst way.

I guess in a way everyone is being prejudice towards America because of the actions of a few

I guess everyone should really lay off America and really get on Bush

                          I'm seeing that too.

Why can't we all just get along!? We're all humans. Why can't we accept each other?

Everyone always brings up Bush and terrorism as if the terrorists acts against the US were because of Bush. 911 was planned during the Clinton era and I'm positive would have still occured if whats-his-name would have been elected. So what would have happened then?

With all the "if Bush win..." talk, I'm starting to look forward to him winning now. All the Bush haters will leave the US (like they all preach), tons of job openings will occur and the economy will get a HUGE boost. That, or if Kerry gets elected, everything goes to crap even worse than it is now. Maybe if we're even luckier, more terrorists attacks will start to happen. Or maybe all the people leaving the US will move to Canada and the terrorist will follow them so Canada gets a taste of this shit.

A few extremists? No real problem? You been living under a rock? (Damn! I said I wasn't getting into it!) Look at it this way...You come and attack my house, unannounced and get away with it. Think I will leave that alone? I seriously doubt it! What would you do in Canada if they blasted one of your cities? Yes, Afghanistan was first, that was not the heart. Taliban is still strong! They go by many names. Iraq has been a den of terrorism for years. I see no other nation, anywhere, willing to take a stand and stop the bastards! They do this in the name of religion, (more wars have been fought over religion throughout history than ideals.),and money, supplied by the oil they produce! Yes, we use some of it, BUT, if you don't think we can be self sufficient, think again. So can Canada! George Bush didn't start this, they did! But by GOD! I hope that he finishes it! And I really wish the rest of the sane world would get some BALLS!!! By the way....Thank-You France! Want your ass saved again? Or do you like speaking German? Or Japanese? I would have hated to have seen WW2 without us, (U.S) This is the most free country on the planet! I am VERY proud to be here! Please don't cry and whine when we do what we always have! That is,... Preserve Democracy. So... All you people that think, "Just leave it alone, and it will go away." It won't! It's like the "Spider Bite Thread." Unattended, it rots! Had to take England out of this bitch session. Thank-You England, for standing tall!
