    hey there every one
im just hear to tell anyone that needs not know that the flea treatment that is applied behind the neck for dogs MUST NOT be used on cats
the guy at the pet store gave my wife some stuff ment for small dogs and said it was ok to use on cats
well it wasnt today i administered the treatment to one of my cats and a few hours later we had to take her to the vets office for a fight for her life
for those of us that have seen the toxic effects of nerve gas experiments on animals this is what she experienced before being stabalized
for everyone else i will explain
it starts out that the cat starts to salivate and shake individual legs as if it has something it is trying to shake off
a few hours later she started convulsing violently and became paralized
the doctor gave her atropine which is a nerve agent antidote and some valium injectiions to keep her from injuring herself as she shook
then she got worse before she got better
they had to give her anestetic gas to put her under while the antidote took full effect
now she lays in our bed 7 hours later still paralized and having small treamors
this will last for up to 24 hours while the agent that did attach to her nerves wears off
she will fully recover but only because we got her appropriate medical attention when we did
well i hope i can stop anyone else from making this mistake and if you or anyone esle you know does you know what to do

Sounds like an appropriate lawsuit to me. At least for the vet bill. If it is an large chain store they will probably settle just to keep you quiet. Sucks to be your cat, poor fucker.

You cant wash a cat with dog shampoo either, it kills them. Cats skin abosrbs shit easily and it seems that the dog products have a much different effect on the cats. Glad you got medical attention fast enough to allow a full recovery.

sorry to hear that man, i know how importent pets are to people, i have 2 pure bread siameese cats myself. hope she recovers and there are no effects afterwords.

id deffinitly talk to the pet store manager and try to have them pay the vet bills, and if they refuse, talk to a lawyer.

That's fuct up. We have two cats, and the closest we have come to anything to worry about with them was when we had both of them declawed and neutered (I didn't want to have their boys snipped, but it had to be done). The older one didn't recover from the anastesia as the little one did, and his paws bleed for a couple days (not bad, but you could tell they were bleeding some) after the surgery. Luckily both made a good recovery, and they aren't pissed at me for having their jewels taken.

def sue these idiots, no dog treatments are usable on cats, even your basic flea collar uses a different formula.
