3400 Engine Rebuild

I was just wondering what could be done to a 3400 for a 99+ Grand Am. Any ideas from the block to pistons to whatever. Just trying to get ideas for the future. I would like to buy a block somewhere and get things slowly when I can until I have everything. This is not something ZI am going to do overnight and I don't want to make something halfass.

ANyways, all ideas are welcome.
