  • How difficult are AN fittings to install?

I need a custom length -4AN to -4AN hydraulic line. The shortest pre-made one I could find was 14" and that ended up being too long, but too short to loop/bend.

Any tips or perhaps a vendor that sells custom lengths?

http://fluidsystemsengineering.com/ can make you exactly what you want... at a price.

However, you can assembly the fittings to the hose yourself pretty easily. I recommend the correct AN wrenches and a protected jaw vice.

Making AN hoses is easy and hard...

The actual overall assembly is not overly difficult. What can be difficult sometimes is getting the nut over the braid, I usually get a few new holes in my fingers doing this. :/

Most -4 lines are teflon, which is a little easier than the rubber hose based AN hoses to install the ends, that I have found.

Make sure you buy the correct end for the type of hose you are using.

Six is right, pay attention to the line type as they have different fittings.

In my experience, the PFTE lined ones are a little more of a pain to get the ends on then the regular braided hose. The -4 stuff will be PFTE though, that's what I used on my brake lines for the Nova as well as -6 for the Hydroboost lines.

Be ready to get stabbed by the stainless... but you can help by wrapping your line in electrical tape, then using a cutoff wheel to cut it. you are still going to get poked though. lol

          I do the same thing
I wrap the ends with duct tape and use a cutoff wheel
Then cut the duct tape with a knife 1/4 to 1/2 inch back then once the ends are covered
Use the palm of to install while holding the braid with the other
